I just graduated from ASU as an undergrad and I have no complaints about the school.  The heat is horrible during this time of the year but if you travel from one air conditioned building to the next its not too bad  :).  The girls here more than make up for the excessive heat anyway... The night life is great at ASU too.  Mill Ave. and Scottsdale provide you with plenty of late night activities if you enjoy that sort of thing.

About the in-state tuition, unless you can work some sort of mircale you will be stuck paying out of state the whole three years (Stll not too expensive though).  Their policy to become an in state student is retarted and it takes at least two years of paying taxes in AZ before you can even qualify.

At admitted students' weekend, I met at least two 2L's that got in-state after their first year. They said there were a lot of hoops to jump through, but if you do them, you'll get it.

I actually knew someone in HS that used the lighter fluid/fire method. Locked himself in a tool shed so no one could save him; they found him while on fire. Seeing the aftermath of that is enough for me to pass on that method.

I'll go with the liver and alcohol option.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Transfer
« on: June 12, 2006, 03:15:47 PM »
I really have no interest in transferring, but things can always change so it's good to know what's up with the process.

Does anyone know how much of a factor undergrad stuff is for transferring? I'll probably be at a school at the very top of T2, so I was curious if, in the highly-unlikely scenario I would rock close to a 4.0 as a 1L and end up ranked in the top 5 or so (overall students, not percentile), would my chances to transfer to a top 10 school be hampered by my oh-so-stellar 2.71 undergrad GPA from five years earlier?

27 here, will turn 28 during first semester of 1L. I went out with a friend from college for his bday last week. His little brother just finished his freshman year at one of the smaller state schools in Wisconsin, and he was having a house party. Since my buddy wanted to see his brother while he was in town, we stopped by. I have never felt so old in my life!

Got the email as well. It was pretty much my No. 1 choice, but I'm cool with the fact that I will be likely be attending my No. 2 choice -- with the added bonus of no snow! I'll probably hold out a couple more weeks, at least until ASU sends me its intent-to-enroll package that I'm supposed to get some time in June. I know there is a chance they could let some people in as July and August approach, but I would like to know where I'm moving to and to start looking for an apartment relatively soon.

I think the OP is off base with Lohan. Maybe it's because redheads have always pushed my buttons (and I'd probably agree on days she decides to be a blonde or have black hair), but if I saw a random girl on the street that looked like redhead Lindsay, I would find her drop-dead gorgeous.

Apply early. They threw money at a lot of people with average numbers early, but waitlisted a boatload after the first rush of decisions. I only applied after I saw the money people were getting (it's probably the No. 1 city I would like to live in), but clearly was too late (and clearly had too low of a GPA).

I was given the impression they didn't have one, but apparently I'm wrong. This is pure speculation, but my guess is that you'll hear in late June or early July. I asked them what the next step was to attend, and they told me sometime in mid-to-late June we'd get some form about attending. They'll probably know where those on the waitlist stand after that.
