I haven't even been assigned a login/password? Maybe they don't like me...

Just got an email today saying I'm accepted...but honestly, I'm not sure why I applied there.

Law School Admissions / Re: GPA- please tell me that where you went matters

I specifically remember reading admissions deans saying that they give you a GPA point or two depending on where you did your UG, and take away a point or two from other schools.

I remember this one specific example, that a 3.2 from MIT or West Point would be considered better than a 3.8 from Michigan State University in admissions decisions. Other deans have made similar statements, saying that they defineatly make some calculations depending on UG.

Law School Admissions / Crap Criminal Record Problem
« on: December 18, 2005, 02:34:03 PM »
So this is rather embarassing...there was this other thread on this board that mentioned the criminal history requirements for the T30 law schools, and I was very surprised to see that NYU was listed as one of the schools that ask you for charges too, not just convictions.

Last year I was charged with disorderly conduct (stupid story), turned out they thought I was drunk when I actually wasn't, so the charges were droppe. Anyways, I would have defineatly mentioned this to NYU had I read their application a bit more thoroughly, but I thought only Cornell and Duke out of the T14 asked for charges as well as convictions.

Well now that I've been accepted to NYU, I'm at a dilemma...I didn't particularly want to attend NYU, but I also don't want to get stung with a rescinding offer of admissions. What should I do? If I write them a letter are they pretty much going to ding me?

I didn't get any nice note from the Dean...she must not like me :(

Congrats to all! Just heard back myself. Was very nervous this past week after my good friend was admitted last week to NYU.

Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / NYU and UMich today :)
