Transferring / Gtown PT 1L to Cornell FT in 2L?
« on: June 25, 2010, 03:34:25 PM »
Does a student in GULC PT have a good chance of transferring to Cornell in 2L? It is for a personal reason if you are wondering.

Cornell's transfer FAQ says that one must have completed one full year. I can do this by studyin my 1L summer, but will this be too late for applying transfer in the coming fall?

Also, the FAQ says successful transfer applicants are almost always in the top 10% of their class. I believe this comes from the fact that most transferrers come from much lower-ranked schools. What about GULC PTT? I see it more as a peer transfer than transferring up (correc
t me if i'm wrong). Can i transfer just being in the top 1/2?

Thanks for your input.

Oh Canada! / 2.76/166/172 - Canadian Law Schools?
« on: May 24, 2010, 06:43:19 PM »
With a 2.76 from Computer Engineering at UofT, do I stand a chance of being accepted to any Canadian law school?
My LSAT scores were 166 in Sep09 and 172 in Dec09.
Have some work experience but not much.

Thanks much.

Transferring / Georgetown PT to HYSCCN?
« on: March 05, 2010, 03:43:15 AM »
What percentile of the class would I need to be in for H? Y? S? C? C? N? Would it be worth it, money aside?

How's my guess for top %10 for HYS, top 20% for CCN?

Thanks.

Where should I go next fall? / Accepted GULC PT ED
« on: January 28, 2010, 06:04:41 PM »
Today I received my notice of acceptance to GULC part time. I had applied ED for both full time AND part time, and I'm wondering if I can call them to ask about putting me in full time instead. Do they entertain these requests, and what are my chances?

For the record: 2.76 engineering GPA, 166 (Sep 09), 172 (Dec 09)

Thanks.

Law School Applications / Transferring between similar rank schools?

How hard is it to transfer to another school of a similar rank? Say Georgetown to Cornell or vice versa.

Law School Applications / send app now or wait for score?
« on: December 09, 2009, 04:37:14 AM »
Background Info:
- Took Sep LSAT, scored 166. Unsatisfied, Reapplied. Studied really hard between Oct. and Dec.
- Took Dec.5 LSAT. Felt really good about the performance. Having done 35 timed PTs between Oct and Dec., where I scored 171-176 90% of the time, I'm highly expecting 170+, possibly 174+.
- 2.8 GPA (Comp. Eng.) + ~1 yr Work Exp., Canadian

Goal:
- Really want to break T14.
- GULC PT ED seems to be the "easiest" way in
- note*: strangely, GULC ED is due March 1, 2010.

Situation:
Ideally, I would have my LSAT score in hand to make an informed decision. If I barely made it (~171), I'd be safe and go GULC PT ED (+Cornell FT etc.). If I scored 174+, then I might skip PT ED and apply GULC FT (+Cornell FT etc.). Want to skip ED if I can because I prefer Cornell over GULC, but both schools are OK.

Dilemma:
Should I wait until I know my score, so that I can act according to it? Or would that be too risky since it'd be so late (~Jan) in the cycle? Please give me some feedback on what you would suggest.

Forgive me for asking before getting the "real" score, since this issue requires an answer and informed decision before I know my score. Thanks!

Considering applying PT and transferring to FT. There is no guarantee his will work out, so it'd be nice to know the answer to the question.

E.g. GULC PT vs FT, Fordham PT vs FT

Thanks for your input.

Where should I go next fall? / 2.76/166
« on: October 17, 2009, 03:34:57 AM »
- 2.76, computer engineering in good Canadian university, upward trend (final year 3.90)
- 166 on Sept09 LSAT
- Employment: 16-month co-op program plus two 2-month summer internships => 20 months total

What are some reach and realistic schools in tier 1 that I have a shot at, given that:
1) It's still early in the cycle
2) The degree is from engineering
