Take if from a 1L...enjoy yourself before law school!  You will learn enough law once you get started!

Does "being a law student" give a guy any extra points with the ladies?

No, sorry, you won't get any extra points untill you are a partner at a big firm bringing home 7 figures...and by then you will be too old and jaded to care.

Where should I go next fall? / Dear Wisconsin,

Dear Wisconsin, Alabama, Case, and Houston,

In December I decided to apply to your fine institutions.  I filled out your applications, wrote essays, and perhaps most importantly, I gave you a good sized chunk of my hard-earned money.  I did this all with the sole expectation that I would receive a decision in a timely manner.  In January, my file was complete, due to more money that I paid to LSAC to send you  my transcripts.

It is now May, and I have yet to receive as much as a deferal from you.  No acceptance, no ding, no waitlist, not even so much as a hold.

Seriously, WTF?

Sincerely,

Kirsten191

Acceptances / Re: I actually got in!

I got him last September...he was a hurricane refugee  :o

He is my baby and I don't know what I would do without him, but I would NOT get a puppy the first year of law school!  Puppies are like newborn babies, they cry through the night and require constant attention.  However, if you have the room and some free time, there are LOTS of great adult dogs at shelters that desperately need homes - you could get a wonderful pet and save a life...something to consider!

Congrats on your acceptance!  I hope you have been celebrating, you earned it!

Don't worry about the people saying sh*t about Fl. Coastal - it is a fine school with a good bar passage rate, and in a fabulous climate!

Best of luck!

Kirsten, your dog is ADORABLE! Is he going with you to law school??

Thanks!  He is the most important man in my life, so of course he is going to law school with me!

Thanks cesco, you are right, it is just shocking to look that the financial aid forms (which I got today) - $42k in loans!  But I think I would be better off at Tulane for lots of reasons, it is just hard having second thoughts!

thanks again to all that replied!

where do I want to work?  I don't know, anywhere in the south, from florida to texas, so location is not really a factor.

New Orleans after the hurricane is actually a big draw for me, helping with the cleanup and the rebuilding of the whole Mississippi Gulf Coast region (which, coincidently, is where I grew up).  I am just worried about the $1500/month loan repayments after I graduate....

I am also still pending at Bama, I wish they would let me know one way or another!

Anyone else have any input?

Where should I go next fall? / FSU - should I put the deposit down?
« on: May 01, 2006, 07:40:19 PM »
Okay I was all set to go to Tulane, but I keep having second thoughts about how much it is gonna cost me - I will end up over $100k in debt (prolly like 120k after everything is said and done)

The FSU deposit is due today (like now!)  they have offered me instate tuition, so it would be like $25k/year, or about $75k debt total.

Someone talk me into or out of putting down the FSU deposit in the next hour ($200, which would mean raman noodles for the next month...)
