I didn't say it was a permanent job.  It is a summer position.   If there are summer positions available, does that not indicate there are jobs in general.  I'm also not saying that every person who goes to law school will get a job.  I was saying that perhaps you didn't network enough.

Also, if it's so unbelievable that I have a summer job before beginning school, I guess that speaks pretty well for me.  What is so difficult to believe about it, really?

I do not even start to school until August and I already have a job waiting for me and other offers and I didn't even apply for any.  Maybe you just aren't impressive enough.  My offers come from just placing myself in the right circles.  And I'm a poor country girl, so it was my networking that paid off.  It didn't come from being related to the right people or from my parents friends.  Network more.  There are jobs.

Law School Applications / Re: Am I being realistic?
« on: January 13, 2010, 04:32:54 PM »
I think you can get in.  I had a 2.71 and 154 and got into Touro.  Retook the LSAT and got a 158 and got a scholarship to a T3 and a T4 and am waiting for a reply to others.  My resume is pretty dull.  Your's sounds more ineresting, so I think your chances are as good or better than mine

I have no answer, but I am hoping to see others because I am wondering the same thing.  I am considering applying to both of those schools and want to work in NYC also.

Where should I go next fall? / Widener (Delaware campus).....
« on: May 02, 2009, 12:31:31 AM »
So is Widener a total *&^% school or do the grads have a chance in hell shot at jobs?  Do Widener grads work in surrounding states or usually just Delaware?

This school search is a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the replies.  :)  Informative and entertaining.  The only way I will go to school in Arkansas is if I can't produce the funds for anything else.  I have been reading the posts on the NY schools and it is so depressing.  The only schools that the posters do not consider total crap are NYU, Columbia, Fordham, Yeshiva, and maybe Brooklyn Law School.  Yeshiva and Brooklyn Law are atleast somewhat possible for me to get into (atleast when I retake the LSAT), but I wouldn't get scholarships so they're out.  Are Pace, Hofstra, NYLS, St. John's, CUNY, Touro, et cetera worth bothering or should I hang myself now?

Widener U School of Law / Wilmington commute to NY....
« on: May 01, 2009, 06:01:09 PM »
What's it like?  Is it practical to make the commute daily or would that be a major pain?  Also, do many people from Widener work in NY?

Is it common for schools to give need based grants that go beyond tuition, up to cost of attendance is a person is unable to attain enough federal money.  (as in sketchy credit).  I had a student loan to default and I am currently restoring it, which is supposed to make me eligible for Stafford again.  I seriously doubt I could get enough to cover it.  If a gal were to get full or partial tuition, not get quite enough stafford, couldn't borrow private, do some schools give grants to cover the rest up to coa?  I am thinking along the lines of Pace, NYLS, Hofstra, St. John's, Touro, Brooklyn LS, the NY area schools.  Anyone know?  I am curious about some Massachusetts schools to if anyone has any input.

General Off-Topic Board / What to pack for law school????
« on: May 01, 2009, 02:35:57 PM »
What should a person pack/buy who is moving away to go to law school?  Apartment living in the city.  What to take to class?  Do law students carry backpacks? Briefcases?   How to dress for class?  Anything that one might not normally think of?

Thanks!!!!!

General Board / New York firms hire from UALR Law (Little Rock, AR)?
« on: April 26, 2009, 02:05:03 PM »
I am thinking of attending UALR law school in the fall.  I without a doubt want to practice in New York, but cannot afford to go to school there.  Will this extremely limit my chances of working in NY?

Thanks!!!
