if a man is not being sent to  prison because there is a realistic danger of his being killed there, there is a very deep problem in our corrections system.

I agree with that. People are being sent to prison to be punished, but they should not have to fear for their lives or be raped. And I think it's pathetic that we act as though we can't fix that, or worse yet, that that should be an unofficial part of their punishment.

Call me a jerk...but he assaulted and made an UNDERAGE girl fear for her life.  Sure he'd love to live in luxury, but does he deserve that?
Let him get punished, there's a reason rapists get it so bad in jail, and I think they deserve it.

Just my own opinion, but I don't think this guy has any right to complain.

Honestly, I don't know what you're trying to learn about, I'd prefer to read historical sites, and then talk to locals.  Movies don't give you any idea about what it's like.

How about this one -

Received his J.D. from Duke University in 1973 and currently serves as Pepperdine University's School of Law.

For those of you who ordered Dells, did you upgrade to the Truelife screen?  Did you get accidental coverage?

No I didn't get the Truelife (heard it wasn't that good, plus it's for games/videos and I have a desktop for that)

No I didn't get accidental coverage (expensive and I will be careful and back up).

My thoughts are, with how laptops get so much better every year, I'm spending close to $1k, but if it breaks, I'll spend 1k again and it'll have better specs than the ones they spent 1.5-2k on.

I don't get what that much moneys worth is really doing for you??

If it's documents get a small jump drive and use that, back-up at an online source, secondary computer etc.

If you drop your computer, chances are the HD may not be the only thing that will break, and if it's backed up, you can buy the cheaper HD to replace it.

How are their rates?  I don't want a nice and painless signup only to pay an extra 1-3% over the next 20 years.

Does this seem like a good deal for a Dell or should I wait for a better one - 14'' Inspiron E1405 w/ 1.66 Dual Core, 1 GB Ram, 60 GB hard drive, DVD burner, wireless card, and 3 yr warranty for about $1038 shipped?  It seems to have everything I need, but I don't really have to have it until August, and I wonder if they'll have better deals later on.

I got something pretty close to that, but only a 1 year warranty, I paid about $850, so it sounds pretty good.

By the way what I did was find Dell coupons on Ebay, 30% off and $35 off.  Combined those for the good deal.

Definately has everything you will need either way.

FYI for orange county:

in the morning, everyone goes north to LA for work
in the evening, they go South

so you may want to try to live south.

costa mesa is okay. decently cheap. a little ghetto. you may get a decent amount of UC Irvine kids living there (i know/knew a bunch/my brother did).

but 20minutes w/o traffic very well could mean 40 minutes.

Traffic is going to make more of a diff. than distance.

A better way to prepare is to read One L and Law School Confidential, relax and get in shape, and (if you must) do some tangentially useful reading.

OneL is a novel that does nothing but increase anxiety, and that is what the OP is trying to reduce not increase.

Law School Confidential tells you how to study, to highlight with 15 different colors:
#1. I think most people have picked up study habits from UG
#2. Something that specific and anal, if followed all the way, will just hurt you, that is counter-productive, you have to do what fits you, not what fits someone else.
