Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Waitlisted at Loyola-LA
« on: June 22, 2006, 08:36:58 PM »
Thanks for the info.  I got flat out rejected from Southwestern... I think whoever read my essay just didn't like animals or children or something...  this whole process is so subjective.

It really is very random, I heard of people with competitive numbers for UCLA/USC get rejected from random schools like Southwestern, and then get into Whittier but not Chapman, things that just make you go "HUH?"

You can see from my LSN that I got a pretty random acceptance from Loyola and stayed on Pepperdine and USD's WL.

Hey thought I'd throw this out here...

Just got into Loyola LA, and I was planning on moving up north but now I'm going to stay in LA.

Is there anyone on here going to any of the LA schools that are looking for roomates?

This board updates a mile a minute, so PM me if you are interested...

I decided not to stay on the Loyola waitlist... and to go to Pepperdine (unless miracle of miracles I get off the UCLA waitlist).  Just curious what made you decide to accept Loyola.  Was it primarily ranking?  8)

I didn't like Southwestern much, the next best school was Santa Clara for me.  Pepperdine and USD left me on the waitlist, and I heard much better things about Loyola than Pepperdine.

There are some aspects of Loyola I don't like as much as Pepperdine (location and small commuter school), but the reputation outweighs all of that for me.

A few of my LA friends also suggested Ktown, said it would be a decent location if I wanted to be close to the school.  Or maybe they just assumed that I'd want to feel right at home (i'm korean)  :P

Are the school's roomate/housing websites helpful at all?  I'm not able to log in yet since they haven't received my deposit.  Ideally I'd like to live with another LMU 1L pretty close to the school, you know... misery loves company

I'm in the same boat as you are, I will look at the online housing site as soon as they receive my money.

k-town?  :-\

I just don't want to deal with traffic.

K-town is not horrible, I don't know if it's the closest place though still...

hey fidiv, did you get an e-mail saying you were part of a select group being reconsidered before you got off the loyola waitlist today?  congrats by the way.

Yep.  I got that email on Friday of last week and promptly responded that I was still very interested and wouldn't hesitate to accept an offer.  I hadn't heard anything from them, and I was curious so I gave Jannell a call today to inquire about my file and she confirmed over the phone that they had offered me admission.  (coincidentally, I came home today to a nice big fat white envelope)  Not sure if it means that the initial email went out to everyone they were already considering admitting, but good luck.

I got that e-mail on Tuesday, I'm still waiting...

I got that Email too!!  My heart was pounding as I opened the email hoping and praying that it would be an admissions offer!  Much to my disappointment, it wasn't.  But good news I guess.  I too was making plans of going up north to visit San Francisco and possibly Santa Clara, but Loyola has always been and still is my first choice. Good luck to you!

I'm not the only one wallowing in anxiety!!

Well I found out it's you first choice you are being reviewed for, very small group supposedly, and we should know very soon.

Good Luck!

I hope so, although nothing is for sure until they tell me so...

It's crazy because I made a ton of plans to go up north since I thought I had no chance of getting off the WL at Loyola.

I just hope it's not the PT too.
