Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: UVA Deferred > Status Change

I kind of wish they didn't defer me if it's a rejection, they could've just done that in December!

Yep I just got the status change email, I'm not expecting an acceptance.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Boston schools

After visiting, some physical environment factors appear to me:
-BC's campus is more than an hour away from downtown Boston using public transit.  BU is in the heart of Boston. But BC's suburban campus is very nice and green.
-BU's law tower is definitely showing its age.  What happened in the 60's that people thought exposed concrete was cool?  BC's new library and East Wing are very nice.
-Harvard's campus definitely does not conceal the school's wealth.  The recent renovations make the buildings very nice.

I actually visited BU about a week ago and I didn't find the tower too bad. I mean, it wasn't as horrible as the picture I had in my head, I think I could go to school there.

Call from the BU fin. aid asking if I had any questions. Maybe since they personally called me they'll give me lots of money! :)

I answered affirmatively because I had an issue during my undergrad where I based a computer program on a classmate's work.  I was caught, but I'm not sure that it ever was noted in my academic file.  I've looked through my file and didn't see anything, but didn't want to risk it coming up later.

You're the first person I've ever heard of who got caught doing that.

I TA for a computer programming class and we catch people all the time. Usually we just give them 0s on the HW though, unless they do it again.

Finally dinged from Early Action, both full-time and part-time.  165/3.62...was kinda thinking I'd get into part-time, or at least waitlisted/deferred

Sorry to hear that, I definitely thought you would have at least been admitted part-time. Don't worry, there are good things to come!

I got a UCLA email today that was rather impersonal. They didn't use my name and they started it off with, "UCLA School of Law is currently accepting applications for enrollment in fall 2006," instead of the usual, "We loved for you to apply!" I thought it definitely was not as warm as my Harvard email! But less of a tease :).

I think LSAC factors in both grades if you retake a class, so it wouldn't help that much. I might be wrong though.

They requested mine the day after I applied, but that was back in November. Getting my report was fast, now going complete, that's a different story...
