wow this post is in the running for worst ever on LSD.

Kingofspain, are you sure you didn't mean kingofspin?

actually there's an interesting story behind this name.  I've spent a lot of time in England and a couple of summers ago i started taking an interest in cricket.  anyway, there's this cricketer called "the king of spin" because he the way he spins the ball.  his club's gift shop ordered mugs with this nickname on it and they came back "king of spain"
so that's where i got the name from.

True, it definitely is important.  If any of the defenders are injured, Jaime Carragher can play anywhere along the back line, they also have Campbell or Ledley King if either of the centre-backs get hurt.
Shawn Wright-Phillips isn't as good as Beckham but he's passable and he has played a few times for England before.  He hasn't played a huge amount this season however.  England always have a problem on the left of midfield.  Right now it's assumed Joe Cole will play there, if Lampard or Gerrard were to get injured Cole could slot in there, whoever was then on the left wouldn't be as good, unless they played Rooney there.
Owen would be difficult to replace, Defoe is a similar type of striker to him, but he's been out of form all season, Darren Bent has no experience, and Peter Crouch is obviously a very different striker.  I actually rate him but he should be a sub.
So let me revise that, England are in some trouble w/o Owen too.

Rio and Terry would be first choice even if Campbell were completely healthy by the time the world cup starts.  Left back is a bigger problem.  Wayne Bridge has finally started playing regularly for fulham but he's no Ashley Cole.  Other options, like Paul Konchesky or even playing Jaime Carragher there aren't that great either.  It's not that these guys aren't decent left-back but Cole is one of the best in the world.
The key men for England are Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard and Terry and, to a lesser extent, Beckham and Owen.  Everyone else is somewhat replaceable.

I would never argue that rovers are a big club like arsenal or expect them to compete with arsenal regularly, so although the last 3 games have been disappointing, i'm still really happy with rovers season.
there are a lot of football fans like you who care mostly about club football, there's nothing wrong with that, if i suppported a bigger club i might feel the same way.  but your club loyalties color everything you say.  you rubbished the whole brazilian team and then sing the praises of someone who might not even get in the brazil team just because he plays for your club.  even your analysis of england was "they're in trouble because cole and campbell are injured."  true england have no replacement for ashley cole but sol campbell isn't even first choice.

gentlemen, it's the beautiful game- let's not regress into retarded arguments like baseball and american football fans do- seriously, it isn't worth it.

...especially since there are so few of us on here!!  But, seriously, arguments and insults are at the very heart of fanmanship...  Especially when you support rival teams competing for Champions League spots!!

form is temporary, class is permanent.

Yes... messageboard etiquette is permanent.  (wanker)

Whatever, I dont really give a sh*t... off to the pub for the last day before I begin my wretched tenure at work tommorow.  Arsenal, do me proud!!!

no you dope, with regards to sports.  form is temporary, class is permanent.  in your case stupidity is permanent.

you make a good point nesnut, but i feel the gunner here had an attitude that he knows more than everyone else.  if you disagree about the brazil players just say so and give your reason, not just say "anyone who knows anything about soccer thinks..."  that's obnoxious.
let's forget about the brazil debate, we'll see what happens in germany, just remember my favorite cliche:  form is temporary, class is permanent.
