A few more... 1. Tax the wealthiest 2% at a 70% rate (income tax); the wealthiest 10% at 55%.
2. Withdraw military presence from other countries unless they ask us to stay as protection against a neighboring threat.
3. Cut military spending in half. Maybe more.
4. Increase teacher salaries to $50K/yr -- adjusted for COL, with $50K/yr in Topeka KS as a baseline. Also, increase the number of teachers so that elementary class sizes are no larger than 20 students.
5. Pump all that money saved from the military into public education (including higher education) -- mostly for teacher salaries, new hiring, and facilities & resources.
6. Modify/revise welfare programs into worker programs -- i.e. provide productive work to welfare recipients, for which they receive welfare benefits.
Enough to go on for a while?
Ambitious enough for you, red? (Nice new tar, BTW)
1 doesn't work. 2 is nonsense 3 doesn't work 4 acheives nothing 5 acheives nothing 6 is a good idea 1 out of 6 ain't bad.

sno, i love that tar
second, i wouldnt mind higher gas prices if it was mostly taxes that were going to either mass transit or alternative fuel research.
right now, were just sending money to people that are going to end up bombing us...
leave alternative fuel research to the private sector.
i dont think it's all that effective in the private sector yet, but i think it's probably better than depending on the govt...i say just tax us and send it to toyota...god knows they'll put it to better use than gm or ford who STILL thinks SUVs are the future
someone can't get their head aroud suvs

Let's see... controversial stuff...
I could see the benefits of instituting a limit of 2 biological children (multiple adoptions would be okay once economic ability to support multiple children has been determined).
Also--I don't think everyone should go to college.
i can't see the benefits of that

oh well, i'm not at all rich, but i just dont get it- a few bucks extra a week is annoying, and i can see how it could affect business that buy tons of gas but for me, it's not worth getting upset about.
also i'm not someone who takes offense at people driving their vehicle of choice- even if it is an suv- they're the best choice for some people.

gas hasn't tripled in a few years. i really don't get the big deal, it's a pain but not worth getting so upset about.
