From speaking with current UCLA law students, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty.
Uncertainty as in they think prospects are bad or uncertainty as in they have no idea what prospects look like?
If the latter, I'm not sure anyone could really give you any good answers. The whole biglaw framework is getting shaken around a bit. Hard to say what's going to happen in the next year or two until it actually happens.
Imagine how I'm going to feel when he creams me in court.

I find that hard to believe.
My instinct is it seems like when you compare two similar applications, it would look like the kid who took a semester off (even if it was for some kind of legitimate mediocre internship or something)was lazy in comparison to the kid who did not.
I know people who took time off during school and didn't do anything really amazing or anything. It didn't impact them negatively, as far as I can tell.
