Rutgers gives instate tuition to anyone w/ a lease on an apartment in NJ, even first year. Other schools might as well... couldn't hurt to ask if an out of state school interests you.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Scholarships

i got a few scholarship offers w/ a 3.3 and 160... guess it all depends on the range of each for the particular school. and it will also help if your GPA improved towards the end of undergrad, or if you have a few semesters with a very high GPA and can explain why you got a much lower GPA in other semesters.

worst experience i had with a status checker was when it finally changed to "decision made" at my #1 choice, but then i still had to wait 3/4 days to get the letter in the mail that told me what the decision was. i really would have either been told right away yes/no or not had the status checker at all.

I got in w/ a 3.3 and a 160, so I'd definitely say you have a solid chance.

Extremely biased opinion here as I attend Penn State, but it's awesome. New law building here is amazing. Also, PSU is definitely on its way up in the rankings, if you're the type who treats USNEWS as the bible. Don't know anything about Indy, but I would have to agree that it comes down to cost and where you want to practice.

Penn State, but I am probably the most biased poster here on the subject as I went to PSU for undergrad and am going back for Law School.

I just got a call from Temple last week telling me a seat opened up, so maybe there is still a chance.

I'm not positive about Rut. Camden, but I know Rut. Newark offers in state tuition to anyone who has a signed lease in NJ, if that makes a difference.

I got a scholarship offer from Pitt for 1/2 tuition with a 3.3/160, so it's certainly worth applying.

The biggest factor in choosing Penn State over Pittsburgh was that I just felt more comfortable there. The fact that I went to PSU for undergrad certainly helped, but they also just invested a ton of $$ into a brand new law building which was 100X better than what Pitt had to offer. In the end even though Pitt would have ended up costing a little less I decided on PSU because I felt it has a better upside, and is on its way up in the rankings. A lot of people think because PSU is in the middle of nowhere you should avoid it, but it still has a big name that hopefully will carry well throughout PA and NJ. All of the schools I was looking at were pretty close in the numbers (employment rate, starting salary, etc.) so in the end I just chose the school that had the best facilities and living environment (IMO).
