so...Brittany Murphy ???

I always feel weird when I get bummed by this type of news, but it's really upsetting.  She was so young.  I think it could have been an eating disorder, she looks so frail in recent pictures :(

He's a big ginger.  Maybe it wasn't a great idea for him to wear an orangish camel hair jacket that "looks like it's made out of my beard":)

Vomitrocious.

BTW, glad I didn't make plans to fly home. We're expecting a ginormous snowstorm here and I'm worried for people who may get snowed in to the airport.

They've closed the Ithaca airport - not because we're expecting even a snowflake, as we're not - but because almost all our flights go to NYC, NJ and Philly, and all those airports are now closed.

I think today is the first day in recent memory when it has snowed here and not in ithaca.  crazy!

I have some friends at other law schools too and when they had their first semester of finals, they were all telling me, DON'T GO TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!!!!  After finals, they were better about it though.

Totally. I really like law school outside of finals. There are some pet peeves and when you spend all your time with the same group of people daily in class, people really start to get on your nerves. BUT there are a lot of great things about law school generally and I'm thankful to be here.

this.

But it is a lot of work, and I don't think my view is particularly twisted despite the gunnerish reputation of my school.  I think it's a lot more about working hard and smart - not just hard.  I'm hoping to work more on perfecting the former next semester.

one more exam, and it's torts.  the worst is over.

Yeah, I think it's a bad idea to ask law students how they feel at this time of year.  I think it's great that even in such high stress times everyone still seems happy with their decisions.  That's most important.  Congratulations to all for being (almost) done!

Law School Applications / Re: Should I apply or wait?
« on: December 15, 2009, 03:45:16 PM »
First of all, calm down.  You can expect your score after Christmas, I know they won't give it before then.  However it should come before New Years.  Given that it's December 15th I struggle to see the advantage of applying now.  You won't go complete until your score is in, so no one is going to look at your application now.  Just get all of your things in order, make sure your PS is airtight and then see what happens when you get your score so you can finalize your school list.  If you really want to be able to hit "send" immediately after getting your score, you can always start your apps on LSAC and just save them (love this feature).  You can add/delete later if you need.

At this point, I don't think adcomms will do a whole lot with your application until after the new year, so you might as well calm down and get your ducks in a row now.

I'm not sure of any 2Ls without some offer, but I do know of two 3Ls who were no offered by their summer firms after (supposedly) a summer full of high praise and assurances that they were doing a fab job. It's kind of petrifying.

Reading this thread makes me so afraid for law school finals.  I haven't had finals for 3 years now and I can be really lazy.

Be very scared. Not for the faint of heart, I'm afraid. I hate studying and was never a library person until I got here.

I have some friends at other law schools too and when they had their first semester of finals, they were all telling me, DON'T GO TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!!!!  After finals, they were better about it though.

Oddly enough, my friends who are in law school were always encouraging me to apply when they were 1Ls, even though they were obviously stressed.  They're clearly very good at hiding their neuroses.

I was a pretty good library person in UG, but I'll be foggy.  If I make it through finals without crying publicly, I will consider it a win.

Ugh and I also know of someone who didn't get a job offer from her firm after supposedly having a good 2L summer with them.  I think that's the worst.

Can't wait for law school finals. I'm doing just dandy with my music history ones :P

Apparently 60 pianos were vandalized this weekend at my UG's music school. Right before finals.  It made me sad to hear that.

That was amazing. I had a dream last night that I went to CLS. This is making me a little queasy. Or maybe I should be the one to restrict my study groups? :D

"Sorry Columbia, but this would never happen at NYU."

Just saying...

My friend who goes to CLS just said that he knows who she is.

Putting everything else aside, in her mind she concluded that she was so great at every subject she could form a study group and decide who was qualified to join.  On what basis was that decision formed?  Can your friend find her a specialist?!

On the radio this morning... And it is currently 0 degrees in Provo...

That is terrible.  Wow.

I have a plan due EOD today.  I am slightly hungover but seriously unmotivated.  I think my boss is still drunk.  I need to get motivated and not watch Glee on Hulu.

I LOVE Glee! Must watch last night's episode soon.

It is AMAZING.  And apparently last night's episode is the last one until April.  But I think when it comes back it'll go for a long time because they were ordered for 24 episodes this year.  I know I'll watch last night's episode at some point today, but part of me just wants to let it linger since this is the end for a long time.
