General Board / QUESTION: How long is the J.D degree good for?
« on: July 05, 2012, 07:21:00 PM »
If somebody graduates from law an ABA accredited law school and is given a J.D, and they decide they don't want to take the state bar just yet, then how long can they wait to take the bar(any state)?

Let me rephrase my question. Can somebody take the bar a five or ten years later? Not everybody goes to law school to become lawyers, and some go for the J.D degree and knowledge, but later in life they might decide to take a state bar. Can they take it? Or is the time expired and they are forever barred from taking the bar? Is it an ABA rule? Is it a written rule anywhere?

Distance Education Law Schools / Help me pick an online law school
« on: July 05, 2012, 09:50:48 AM »
I'm thinking of attending online law school and I don't know what one to pick. I've interviewed most of all of them, and they each have their good and bad. Money is not an issue as I am willing to pay the extra money for the better education. ALU and Northwestern both teach one class at a time. Concord teaches four classes at at a time. I think one class at a time is better. Some of them also have online video learning that we can watch the instructor teach a live class, although I don't know what schools do this.

Can I get anybody's input that has attended these online colleges or others ones? I realize everybody has different learning styles amd works for you might not work for me, but I would like input anyways.

Help me decide. Thanks.

Don't you think online law school is similar to "sovereign citizen" thinking?

Instead of trying to beat the American government and complaining about having to attend an American ABA approved law school, why not just get an online LLB from a foreign law school and bring it back to the USA and take any state bar within the U.S.A.  The USA accepts foreign LLB law degrees as long as they are from a common law country such as UK, Ireland, Australia, etc... Case solved.

Distance Education Law Schools / University of London law degree?
« on: May 27, 2010, 11:00:36 PM »
Any Ameicans on here receive a bachelors of Law from the University of London and allowed any of the state bars in America? I checked it out and their online law degree is only 1,500.00 a year. Sounds too good to be real. However, I checked out their curruculim and there is no "legal writing" class. How are we suppose to learn how to write like an attorney if they don't make us take legal writing? Am I overlooking something here? Also, I'm concerned that their laws are different than American laws, which could possibly cause a problem with passing the state bars. Anybody in the same boat?
