« on: March 02, 2006, 12:43:21 PM »
The admissions office said that $$$$$ offers were set to go out this week (03-01-06), so I was wondering if anyone has recieved an offer?

Yea I was looking at some lofts and condos in the warehouse district.  They were really nice and a bunch of brand new buildings.

The lofts/condos in the warehouse district are VERY popular. They are close to all the after hours party locations. The only bad thing is that its about a 15min. drive to a decent grocery store. There are plenty of overpriced little shops around, but no real supermarkets.

I am from Cleveland, and would have to agree that most Case students dont live downtown. But that is because the area between Case and Downtown is, lets say, less desireable. If you are planning on finding a place in downtown Cleveland, be careful where you look. The city is trying very hard to develop some areas that are, at the least, unsafe. Id say you need to stick with the gateway area, warehouse district, E.4th, or right by the Cleveland State Campus (anything from E.40 to University Circle is shady). Otherwise, you should not live downtown. There are plenty of places available east of the city (university circle, shaker heights, cleveland heights) that are a short drive or even a walk to Case. Personally, I am (and have always been) a westsider. I prefer places like Lakewood, Ohio City, Tremont and points west of the city. You will find that there is a strange competition between those from the east side of the city, and the west side of the city. I find it quite amusing. Anyway, good luck with your scholarships and I hope to see you there in the fall.

No one should ride the bus from tower city to University Circle.

That's what the Rapid is for.

The rapid doesn't run after midnight.  We took it out there, saw a movie, and had to go back via bus.

Actually, the rapid does run after midnight.  I know that at least both the red line and the green line operate until 1 in the morning.

Whatever man, I'm telling you that I went to see a movie at 10pm, at tower city, and the station was closed when the movie was over.  It was well before 1am, and the station was locked.

It only stays open late for Indians and/or Cavs games... Ive been stuck on the bus many times because of this situation. I guess they could have changed the schedule since i moved in August, but i doubt it considering how underfunded the system is.

To be fair, Washington's Metro stops running within a few minutes of midnight.  And it's consistently regarded as one of the best systems in the country.

The METRO runs till 3am on weekends

On another note, will the people admitted to Case please post if/when you recieve scholarship notification? I am ready to make a choice between schools as soon as I get an idea of how much aid I will get from Case. The admissions people said the awards should start going out this week, so I am hopeful to get information soon.

THANKS!

What would you do???
1. UAkron - full tuition and $5000 cash
2. Ohio State - $5k (leaves 10k to pay)
3. Case - talked to some current students with numbers similar to mine who got 3/4 tuition, so i assume that i should get about the same

LSN doesn't seem to show any scholarship information from Case for last year.  Does anyone know if Case offers scholarships to people like me or do they have the typical 160 cutoff for scholarship money like other schools such as St. John's?

From what I hear, Case is very liberal with their money. I met a Case Law 1L last week who was on 75% scholarship with a 160/3.5 (assuming he was telling the truth)

I hope i get some cash, cause id really like to go. But, its gunna be hard to pass up money at Ohio State or a Full ride plus a stipend at Akron. I am patiently awaiting an offer from Case

In case you all were wondering, I talked to an ad-comm yesterday and she told me that scholarship decisions would start going out on Monday, Feb. 27 and that the latest i should hear something would be 2 weeks.

I think this board (not everyone) is obsessed with rankings, and that bothers me.

I don't think it's the rankings, specifically...but more so, trying to determine the correlation between ranking and starting salary. At least for me, that is my challenge...

after checking out your LSN, i am assuming you want to do corporate or business law. Do you know where you want to practice? I think the answer to that question is very important in deciding where to go. As im sure you know, some degress travel better than others.
