Choosing the Right Law School / Re: ND 2L taking questions.
« on: January 12, 2009, 10:07:22 PM »
and go! go! go!

North Dakota?

I'm going to dignify this response with a "No, Notre Dame.  Thank you" reply.  Take care.

Well there is more than one school called ND you left it up to intrepretation, and to be honest, I rather read what its like in North Dakota there are as there are lots of Notre Dame students on here, but I don't think anyone even lives in North Dakota, I'm not sure it even really exists.

i know that you think that i'm a total prestige whore, but i also thought that the OP meant north dakota.  i think it might be worth a title edit personally.

I suggest "Non North Dakota 2L taking questions" just so people are not lurned in here and get ShamWowed.

I LOL'ed.  I'm a sucker for well-placed infomercial jabs.

I do have a question for the OP -- why the sudden Vandy hate?  I mean, I don't go there, but the few I've met/spoken with seem fine.

"Anthony Croom is a punk who grew up to be a thug."  United States v. Croom, 50 F.3d 433, 434 (7th Cir. 1995).

In concurrence, Judge Rovner wrote separately to express her distaste for Judge Easterbrook's language, stating that "the appropriate exercise of our judicial function requires restraint in the language we use to describe the people who come before us, regardless of how dreadful their transgressions."  Id. at 436.

This was a welcome break from note writing. :/

Based on personal observation from doing OCI in Chicago this term, there seems to be a spread for Chicago placement:

Not including YHS, top placement in Chicago goes to Chicago/NW/Michigan.  After that, there's a mess of strong midwestern schools.  These are really tough to rank and include UIUC, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Notre Dame, WUSTL, IU-Bloomington, Ohio State, etc.  Below those are the respected Chicago feeders:  Loyola, Kent, and Depaul.  After those are everything else, including the not-so-well-respected Chicago schools, including JMLS and NIU.

Among the strong midwestern schools like Notre Dame, WUSTL, UIUC, etc., UIUC has an extremely strong alumni placement in Chicago.  I'm working for a Vault firm in Chicago this summer and that firm, while heavily represented by Michigan and Chicago kids, has its share of UIUC alums.  I chose ten firms for callbacks and each of them had a strong UIUC presence.  Based only on that, I'd put UIUC as equal to ND in Chicago and probably a bit better than WUSTL.   WUSTL is kind of an oddity.

I can't believe I saw "clear logic" and Twombly in the same sentence.

Amen.  I normally like Souter, too.

Personally, I've always been partial to a little justice tempered with Murphy.

Will you 2Ls be hazing us?

 :D

2L's are too busy to haze anyone.  As for at least one person that will be a 3L when you arrive, you have nothing to fear.  I'm going to do my best to bask in the "third year they bore you to death" glow.  Praying on unsuspecting 1L's is taxing.

As for now, finals are done, I fear my P/F election in criminal procedure will lean towards "F" (antihistamines + exam = extreme fear) and I'm working on making a new ass groove in my couch while getting my note deliverable done.

Congrats to all those receiving acceptances.  Michigan really is a great place to be.

Mine is still at Application Complete.

Also, hijacking to say that I want another acceptance!

2d.  I have an eerie feeling I'm going to be dinged by UVA and Duke.  I've said it 100 times, but I truly believe it.

My gut says you get into one of them and WL/withdraw at the other.  If I had to guess, I'd wager WL or rejection at UVA and in at Duke.  Nevertheless, my gut has *&^% for brains.
