Check-out the new Loyola admitted students blog. They have information on Housing, parking, etc.

Admitted students blog? Do you mean something on the LLS website, or did someone else create a blog? (If the latter, could you give me the URL? Thanks :))

You should be getting some info in the mail about 2nd deposit, and in there there's a flyer with the url to the blog!  don't have it with me now otherwise I'd just give it to you

My mom told me that flyer came in the mail... I'll have to go home and pick it up.

I'm excited about the coming fall... but also know it will be tremendously exhausting. Is anyone else doing the full-time work/part-time school thing?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Loyola or USD???

Have you actually been to the Loyola Law campus?

I live in SoCal, so I've been dropping by on a fairly regular basis to scope out the school.

Yes.  One visit was more than enough for me.

You visited the campus ONE time and from that you somehow magically know that there are "zero" hot chicks on campus? (Not to mention the obvious "who gives a sh*t?" about the hotness of the men/women... you're paying 80K+ and the quality of women's looks is one of your reasons for picking a school? Umm... someone needs to get their priorities straight) :P

There are no hot girls in law school.  This is a universally known fact, right there with Special Relativity and Quiznos being better than Subway.   Therefore, by LSAT-esque deduction, if there is a law school, and there is no undergrad campus, there are no hot girls.  Simple.

Campus feel was absolutely a criteria in picking a school.

If no one's "hot" (if you mean impeccably dressed, made up, teased hair, perfectly toned/tanned body) while in law school it's probably because they're studying too hard to care. :P

And what are you talking about - Subway is way better than Quiznos.

I will be joinin all of u  ;D

Where will you guys be living?

What other schools were considered in your final decision?

What do you guys want to pursue, curriculum-track wise?

Hopefully I'll be living in the Century City/Westwood area (which is right next to my work). Since I was primarily looking at part-time and only in Southern CA, Loyola was my first choice... :) I'm interested in environmental or land use law...

What about you?

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: What to do pre-1L!?!?!

I've been working (9-5:30 everyday), reading, going to the gym, relaxing at home with my bf... on the weekends it's been movies, mini-vacations, museums, trying to see and do as much as I can before school starts. Planning a big vacation next summer though... A Europe and China tour, I think...

Anyone else planning to go to Loyola? I'm looking for housemates, thought this would be a good place to start ;)

Yeah, I heard that they basically instituted a policy of midterms on all of the 5-unit, one-semester classes...Probably a good thing.

How much is the parking structure?

$380 per semester he said... I'm hoping that evening students get a discount!

Ok, first of all - many "legal secretaries" DO paralegal work, and are essentially paralegals (but without the title). I believe that in order to be called a "paralegal" in California, you MUST have a paralegal certificate. I worked as a legal secretary doing paralegal work (drafted pleadings, discovery, letters, assembled trial binders, handled depo transcripts, research, etc) throughout UG (part-time soph yr, then 30+ hrs jr and sr) and I am currently a legal secretary at a large firm in LA - we have only a handful of "paralegals," and they are making 100K+. I currently make 50K, and will probably make 60-70K upon graduation from law school.

So yes, legal secretaries, at least in California, can make quite a nice salary, and do quite a bit more than "stamping and photocopying."

3 1/2 yrs working as a paralegal/legal secretary at first a small family law firm and now the environmental group of a large LA firm (3 of those yrs were during UG), and 1 yr (freshman yr of UG) working at a chocolate store. :) I hope to continue working at my current firm for the next 4 yrs (through law school)... it's a very interesting place to be.
