goodgal and legapp-I think I'm ordering my Macbook tomorrow and I just wanted to know if either of you are going to install Bootcamp and Windows before you get to school?  I'm a little nervous so I think I might, especially since Penn doesn't seem all that willing to help if something goes wrong.  Are you just going to buy Windows and install it yourself?

i think i'll probably wait until we actually get to school, that way I'll be in the company of other mac users that I can go to for help if need be.

do you guys think it would be possible to share a copy of windows, or does that somehow not work?  it would definitely cut down on costs, but i'm not sure if the disks are protected in some way so as to only allow loading onto one computer or something.

I paid the $18 for expedited shipping, but so far, doesn't look like I'm actually getting it: the iPod has already shipped, but it's scheduled to arrive on July 31!  WTF?!  What happened to the "two days" promised in the expedited shipping area?

Computer is set to ship on the 28th and arrive on the 2nd.  My knee surgery is August 1st.  This blows.  >:(

you should call them and ask them to refund that $18 - kind of silly to pay for expedited shipping when you are only going to get your macbook 2 days before I do (for free).

Still waiting.  Estimated Delivered By: AUG 03, 2006.  That's like... a million days away.

mine is coming august 4th, and i can't wait

you'll appreciate those brand new books even more in law school.  trying to ignore someone else's highlighting and notes played hell on my brain last year.

you can order new books online, too ;)

i know, but i dont think i get my book list until orientation, and i dont want to have to wait until after classes start to get my books.  one less thing to worry about, i guess.

i'm a sucker and i like to have brand spanking new books, so i will probably just get them from the bookstore.

I agree that they're being a bit CHEAP for orientation week  >:(
oh well, i'll be excited enough about school starting to let it slide  ;)

I am definitely thinking I'll do the South Street tour.  I also did the trolley tour during the ASW (plus they want money for it this time!) and biking isn't really my cup of tea in a group setting. (in other words, i dont want to meet people for the first time wearing biker shorts and a helmet  :D)  Besides, the South Street tour includes shopping and bar hopping - sign me up!

So, on another note, are you all planning on doing that service outing on Wednesday morning?  It sounds like we'll be doing yard work of some sort which doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but at the same time I feel like you can't really opt out of the service project. hmmm

I just wanted to say that I wish I was at Penn-- goodgal and legapp seem like so much fun!  Good luck to you two and everyone else.

Aww, you just like us 'cause we're Mac people  ;)

that's a good reason  ;)

well, since i'm going to have 80 available, i might as well give windows at least 10, just in case.

for people who have done this already - is it fairly simple?

and this may be the dumbest question ever, but you know how you have to copy some "drivers" to a CD and then load that onto the windows side?  is it ok to use the same type of CD for that as i would use to burn music?

20 have to designate hard drive space?

that's what i thought...

i'm fairly unfamiliar with the process though so i could be wrong
