How do you recommend going to USC from LAX?

Choosing the Right Law School / USC Job Prospects

I hear at some schools, like BU, if you're not in the top third of the class then you just wasted $150,000.

Is USC like that?  Do you have to be in the top third or so in order to get the lucrative six figure salary job?

Law School Admissions / decision at GULC

Went to decision at Georgetown yesterday.  My numbers are low for them (166, 3.61).  Anybody think they checked the new rankings, saw their spot, and decided to admit me for the heck of it?

Law School Admissions / What do you think???

I went complete at Cornell and Georgetown in mid feb.  They were the first schools I became complete at.  I've already heard back from USC and BU and got accepted, but have not heard anything from Cornell and Georgetown.  What do you think this means?  Should I be expecting a rejection letter in the mail soon?  My numbers are 166/3.61.

Choosing the Right Law School / USC!! but....
« on: March 18, 2007, 11:45:11 AM »
I really want to go to USC this fall, but I'm terrified by the prospect of being roughly 200,000 in debt ( I'm already 45K in the hole from undergrad).  I doubt I will  receive much, if any, scholarship money because my numbers are right at the school's median.

I know a lawyer can earn upwards to 10 million in a lifetime, making 200,000 a drop in the bucket, but it's impossible to predict the future; bad unforeseeable events could occur.

However, I want to go to law school in a big city, especially LA so I could get involved in the music scene.  I also have aspirations to get involved in the music industry as an attorney, so I am thinking being close to the hub of the business would be beneficial.

Also, the sunny weather appeals to me, someone who detests the frigid climate of my current region, New England.

Complicating matters is the fact that I have a full ride at Baylor, another good school but not quite on par with USC's reputation.  However, I firmly believe a school's prestige is not incredibly vital to an aspiring attorney's career (unless it's Harvard or Yale).  I think firms hire individuals with good grades and attractive personalities more than appealling educational pedigrees.

But my goal is to make at least 100 grand after I graduate law school.

With all these statements in mind, what do you folks think I should do????
