Maybe if I vacation in the Dominican for a week and get a real dark tan, I can claim URM too!

Law School Admissions / Can you believe this?

This is a quote from MSNC's World of the Weird.

"Lawyer Cindy Baker's client, Mike Koster, was charged with methamphetamine and marijuana possession and set for trial in October in Berryville, Ark., but he was also charged with possession of a bomb. Baker's trial strategy was to downplay the latter charge by bringing the actual bomb into the courtroom as evidence, but the horrified judge cleared the building and put out a call for the nearest bomb squad, and according to a source for the Carroll County News, the bomb was taken away and detonated. The judge also declared a mistrial and set a contempt of court hearing for Baker. [Carroll County News, 10-10-05] "

Please, no 3rd and 4th tier jokes as I will be attending such a school if I'm lucky.

Welcome buslaw. I figured we needed to give our "class" a voice and an outlet to communicate.

Your soft factors should boost you app quite a bit. You have a very good GPA and having URM status doesn't hurt either. I wish you luck, and if you have any questions, please share. I feel that many people in our situation fear to speak up becuase of the high LSAT demographic that tends to contribute to this board.

Law School Admissions / Sub 150 LSAT discussion

Hi guys. I'm part of this group and thought that it would be nice to have a place were we can discuss the challenges we face. Here are my stats:

LSAT 2x - 148 avg.
Soft factors:
-1st gen american (of european descent with parents of little (mom) and no (dad) american education)
-attended and graduated from a Foriegn Language academy as I simulataneously attended secondary school (8 year curriculum - studies in the language, history and culture of my ethnic background)

WE - 1.5 yrs (I have a strong work ethic)
-work in product licensing and development. I've negotiated with the licensing agent of a multi-national liquor conglomerate and another license with a growing Western-American sport and sourced the manufacturing through networking and negotiations with manufacturers in China as well a major American based Lighter manufacturer.

I've applied to the following schools:
New England
Western New England
UCONN (my alma mater)
New York Law School

Im interested in Corporate Law and IP (Licensing, trademarking, etc.). I'm open to any other suggestions as to what schools I may want to look into.

Good luck everyone!

(Please don't post here if your intent is to bash our LSAT scores)

If the school requires a cert letter, you can still reprint it after your transmit your app.

Go to your LSAC account and click on Applications -> applications and find the school. Under "Law School information" it will state to click here to print the Cert letter if the school requires it.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: What are my chances?

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance. I've never done extremely well in school, but what I lack in "smarts" I make up in my work ethic and determination.

Choosing the Right Law School / What are my chances?

I'm of Polish descent, 1st gen. american, whole nine yards. In addition to attending regular secondary school, I also attended and graduated from the John Paul II Foreign Language academy. The academy consists of an 8 year curriculum, meeting on weekends during the normal academic year. Studies in Polish grammar, reading and writing skills, history and culture. I targeted this topic in my PS.

My stats,

Residency: Connecticut
146 and 149 LSAT
3.1 UGPA (3.36 major in Business from UCONN)
1.5 yrs. work experience in licensed product development (negotiate contracts, develop product, etc)
Interested in Business law

Applied to:
New England School of Law
Western New England
(The following are even more long-shots)
Syracuse Univ.
Albany Law
Univ. Maryland

What are my chances (be kind) and what other schools might I want to look into considering my specific interest in Business Law and wanting to practice in Connecticut after graduation.

I appreciate your help in advance.

You need to go to the LOR's tab in your LSDAS account and specify which letters you want available to each school you apply to.
