Law School Admissions / Re: for all the separation of ttts and t14s

"And for Suffolkers, New England is a TTT.  For New Englanders, I guess they just like to point and laugh at Southern New England School of Law. "

Did you mean WNESL? They need to stop cramming my mailbox with garbage.

Yes THANK YOU my grades aren't so great, but uh, NO. No thanks.

Law School Admissions / Re: What constitutes "good" EC's
« on: December 21, 2005, 04:41:35 PM »

I think I've got good EC/WE:

-Distinguished Scholar (advanced honors program completion, 6/1200 students on average get it)
-Presidents Cabinet
-President of Political Student Association
-SGA Elected Rep
-Chair of various smaller SGA committees
-Honors Legal Internship at oldest firm in NY! Required research paper(4.0)
-Out of school intern for tax/treasury at Symbol Technologies, my boss is the VP and he's an adjunct at NYU Law, wrote a fabulous LoR for me. :)
-Most Outstanding Pre-Law Student Scholarship
-Omicron Delta Kappa (Nat'l Leadership Honor Society)
-Pi Sigma Alpha (Nat'l Poli Sci Honor Society)

And a few other odds and ends.. paid law tutor for Bioethics/Con Law, etc etc

Are these "good" EC/WE's? I worked my arse off because I go to a state school in NY and my GPA/LSAT wasn't too fabulous. :)

Law School Admissions / Re: Personal statement or statement of purpose:::;

The applications usually state pretty much what they want.

I sent the same letter to all three schools, hilighting how the stuff I've done and the places I've worked shaped my view of the law.

Law School Admissions / Re: So do we send updated transcripts to LSAC?

Hmm, I think I'll do that, although my GPA only went up .02.. but, I've got an Honors Legal Internship with a 4.0 grade on there :)

I had that happen with Quinnipiac, they gladly sent me a check! :)

"I have also heard that firms will look at undergrad grades when considering one for a 1L position."

So like, maybe 1L position hiring firms will see my 4.0 in UG Con Law and like that? Maybe? Yeah? :)

I hope someone looks at my first sem senior year(now) and second semester junior year GPAs. Both 3.7s.. better than my 3.4 that I applied with. :/

Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: Very Impressed by Suffolk
« on: October 24, 2005, 12:33:29 PM »
3.44/153  were not talking a lot of money but any bit helps.  Its all need based.  I told them that Syracuse gave me 7,000 so suffolk increased it so my packages matched.  I like Suffolk a lot but since im in cali and it is virtually unheard of out hear most people I tell call it suffix.  its annoying.

Sorry this is an ancient reply - I have exactly the same gpa/lsat as you - where else did you apply, if I may ask?  :)

Throw in some reachest, I suggest Northeaster and UConn.

I've asked about Northeastern and have been told I don't have a shot because it's gotten very competitive due to those who haven't gotten into BU and BC trying there. You still think I'd have a shot at a place like UConn? I'd love to go for a reach school.
