I had commercial outlines (Gilbert's or Emmanuel's, depending on the subject) and E&E's for every class. I rarely if ever used the E&E's once classes began, but they were very helpful to read before the semester began as an intro to the subject. I would also recommend not buying anything until you know what your casebooks are because there are several commercial outlines that are keyed to the casebooks and they are by far the most helpful of any supplement that I used.
Also, in my experience, many professors shun the use of supplements, so they won't tell you which to use. But they are wrong, use them anyway.
