Ugghh I just called the housing office and was told basically "oops." They said it's too late to assign me a lottery number now. And the phone person told me to send an e-mail to hlsdorms to ask for help. Always a sign of incompetence when an e-mail tells you to call or a phone agent tells you to e-mail.
Bleh, that's horrible yc. Hopefully you can work something out.

Did anyone else do the dorm lottery? I got my number today, and I want to know how sucky it is, cause I am for sure NOT living in Gropius. I'm 143; tell me what you are .
My # is about 200 higher than that, so you should be okay. I think I'll end up on a cot in Harkness now.
I'm 287, and that doesn't sound so promising to me. Any guesses as to how many people entered (I think I heard somewhere about half of 1Ls live in dorms, but maybe more try to and get screwed w/ bad lottery numbers)?

My 2 cents: If you can stay on the waitlist, deposit at Harvard, and then forget about the whole thing and move on, do that. If you think you might start obsessively checking your phone / email / mailbox / lsn every day this summer its not worth it.
Peace of Mind > (Yale - Harvard)
I agree with this 100%.
I concur as well.

Chinatown busses all the way homies!
I'm taking the Chinatown bus from NY to DC next week.
Amtrak: $180, 3.5 hours
Chinatown: $35, 4.5 hours
Speaking of chinatown buses--I live at the not-quite-halfway point on the major route between Boston and New York, and tons of those buses always pull off the highway to eat at this chinese restaurant in my town. They're so comparably cheap that I've contemplated taking them from Boston and then just ditching the bus when it stops.

I joined the facebook group!
Also, they added like a zillion features on facebook since the last time I used it (for anything other than confirming a friendship and logging off).
Also, why isn't everyone other than me bored of facebook yet?
I think I might be the last person alive who doesn't have a facebook account; I hardly ever used IM in college, either.

Dinged at Yale today. It stings a little. But I think I'll be okay at Harvard.
Also today, I sent out my Columbia decline and received a letter from my travel agent with an itinerary copy and receipt for my ticket to Boston in the fall. I'm booked, ticketed, upgraded.
Sorry about the ding, yc. Y/H is much cooler than Y/Y, though, don't you think?

I never thought of that. My picture sucks. I took it at the cheapest place possible ($6 for 6 photos at CVS, woo) and was hungover/tired
Ooh, bad decision. Are you a big-school kid like vrm who doesn't know the evil of small-school facebooks?
I took mine at Walgreens. $7 for 2 pictures, with complimentary plastic surgery
This is specifically why I made sure that mine was decent; my ugrad id pic was so not-cute that the id-swiper in my college dining hall actually said to me, "wow, you really need to get a new photo." True story.

My deposit is all sealed up and official and going into the mailbox on my way out this morning, and I'm pretty excited about that.
