well, i sent in a letter of continued interest and e-mailed the associate dean two days ago. Although I am 100% willing to put down the deposit, I dont know if it will be formal. I don't want to be "rude" and piss them off.
As for deferred students, it's a completely different story. Waitlist means they like you but aren't accepting you because there aren't any space left while deferred means they will push you back to re-review your application with the other pool of applicants. so putting down a deposit won't really work for deferred students (IMHO).

anyone successful in getting off of the waitlist into acceptance? If so, how did you do it?

Ok, I narrowed the schools down to Villanova and Pitt in case my waitlist situation doesn't work out. No money information yet on both sides but I just have a feeling Pitt will offer me a little more than Villanova. But I'm not sure because my numbers are horrendous.
My ultimate goal is Biglaw. But I am paranoid for different reasons (not the economy). I want to go into biglaw to make partner
For Pitt, the job competition IMHO is only with Duquene (forgive my spelling) and maybe Case. However, I've been reading online and some say getting a K&L Gates job for example is extremely difficult for Pitt grads in Pittsburgh (not sure if this is 100% true). My real fear for Pittsburgh is the "diversity" factor. When I mean diversity I'm not talking about the diversity of the law school - I'm sure since it's a "school" it is pretty diverse. I'm talking about Pittsburgh the city. I am Asian American. The diversity aspect that scares me is the obvious glass ceiling Asian Americans face in the corporate world. From my brief online readings I did not find a single Asian associate in the Pittsburgh "biglaw" firms.
I'm leaning toward Pitt because of the lower competition in the market compared to Villanova (its Philly market competing with Temple, Penn, and maybe PSU), but I'm worried that even if I get hired in Pittsburgh biglaw, my prospects for making partner or moving up the ladder will be slim because I'm not "white".
Forgive me if my opinion is completely erroneous. This is just my perspective on things right now. I've always lived in Virginia and the D.C. area so I'm really unsure of other states/cities.
I'd appreciate any input.

I just got WL at GW as a PT student. GW is my #1 choice without a doubt; also the best school I've applied to ranking wise. I am on the waitlist not as a yield prospect but probably because my lsat/gpa is low (159/3.33).
I have been researching about GW today but can't seem to find anything really relevant for the LOCI. I am still in UG and not sure about which area of law to concentrate in. However, I know for sure I want to go to GW even as a PT student (eventually moving to FT) because of its location and its decent prospect for biglaw jobs in DC (I want to practice in DC).
I want to ask you LSD users for some help. What do you like about GW? What is awesome about it other than location, prestige, and job-prospects?
I'm just not sure if writing the LOCI stating the two reasons and my 1000% guarantee that I will withdraw from every other school and attend GW is sufficient enough to put me on their admit list.
Any inputs?
Thanks.

hey all,
so far the only school i got accepted to is PSU. Thank heavens i got accepted to a school. my GMU status checker says decision rendered but because i didn't get a phone call in the past three days, im assuming a rejection. sigh.
i always had a dream of going to a t14 school but reality tells me i might end up at a tier 2 - which is not bad at all.
however its hard to give up the dream of attending a t14 and going into biglaw. i guess i could do well at a tier 2 and still get a biglaw job but i 'heard' t14 makes getting a biglaw job easier.
so i've been just thinking and came up with few questions. this might not happen at all, i dont know. its still a far way down the road.
1. is transferring from tier 2 to t14 doable without a 4.0 gpa? 2. how much weight is put on UG gpa and lsat when transferring? 3. what about work experience? is 1L gpa what matters the most? 4. is it better to do well at a tier 2 school than above average at t14 for big law? 5. is it that difficult for transfer students to join law reviews or moot at their new schools? 6. is it worth transferring?
just a random thought. thanks.

I got a letter from SBA in Urich and a newsletter type of e-mail from American. Do those mean anything significant (in relation to admissions?)

My major gpa is lower than the actual one my school gave me. Does the LSAC calculate my major gpa by averaging all the classes that are under the same subject as my major?
