Where should I go next fall? / Is there any hope of getting off the waitlist this late in the game?

Got accepted to my second choice so I am not be too disappointed with the way things have gone, but I have been on the waitlist for my top choice since April. There have been three updates all of them saying the class is full. However, the school is keeping the waitlist open until August 10th. Anyone out there in a similar position, or who has some experience with this I would love to here from you. I am not holding my breath for an offer but I would like to hear there is hope at this point.

Where should I go next fall? / Is there anything I can infer from a "decision rendered" on my status checker

besides the fact that the school has in fact rendered a decision. I ask this because I am away from my house and will not be able to check the mail for several days. I assume this message does not mean anything but this is the first school where I have utilized the online status checker.

I heard that there was going to be some sort of database that all law schools could look at to see if a student has put a seat deposit down at another school?

If this is true it would be nice for people that have been waitlisted as it might open doors that weren't previously opened.

Law School Applications / WL at Catholic, bad omen?

Applied part time, where numbers wise I was well above the 75% in GPA and one point below the 50% LSAT (this according to LSAC). Good Grad School grades, Division I athelete, Work Ex. Nothing bad to speak of. I know being waitlisted isn't the end of the world but in their letter they said they waitlist app. 500 people and in the past they accept between 10 and 50 off that waitlist. Not great odds. I plan on sending them LOCI because I am still very interested. I have heard there are many more applicants in general to law school than in previous years, does anyone else get that impression or know this to be true? I am worried that if I got waitlisted where I thought I had a good chance the ones that are more of a strech might be too much of a reach for me.

Does anyone else have a somewhat puzzling decision? Any insight regarding Catholic admissions this year?

I realize there is LSN, Chiasu, and LSAC so I know my relative chances, however it would be nice to know how others feel about it, thanks!

Law School Applications / Full time job and resume...

I work full time. If and when I get accepted and decide to go to law school I will need to relocate out of area.

Does anyone know if schools contact your employer before they make a decision?

My employer does not know that I am applying to law schools and although I plan on giving them substantial notice (two months or more) I would rather them not know until I have made a firm decision that I am even entertaining the idea of law. I have nothing to hide but it will make it a much worse working environment if I was the lame duck employee leaving next year.  ???

Checked out LSAC info, and their website. They are ranked but barely. Curriculum wise they seem like a fairly good fit for me. Anyone like/dislike the campus, facilities, faculty, etc.? What is your perception of the school? Thanks.

Law School Applications / LSAC GPA vs. School issued GPA

I suppose law schools use the LSAC gpa as a "more accurate" indicator? Meaning if their is a significant difference they will look more closely at the LSAC gpa.

Is it common for the two numbers to be identical?

Has anyone ever had a higher LSAC GPA than your schools' gpa?

Law School Applications / In a dilly of a pickle: Violation of Ordinance back in the day...

was 21 at time, I had an open container of beer on the sidewalk. Never mind the hundreds of other people on the sidewalk with beer, it just wasn't my day. Anyways in my stupidity of my younger days I didn't even research what they cited me under, and I didn't show up to court because I had an exam at that same time and figured I'd just pay the $100 fine and try to forget about the whole incident.

Fast forward 5 plus years. I contacted the municipality to get some information about the violation so that I would be able to explain it better in the law school applications. When I looked up the ordinance I was cited under it was for people using fake ID's to purchase liquor. Yet I was standing on the sidewalk with a beer and was 21 at the time. I did further research and found there was another section of the code that I did violate back then.

Question to anyone willing to respond, what the heck do I do? I do not want to lie, but I also need to clear this up because if the law school and eventually the bar do a background check I do not want to seem like I am lying.  Any thoughts?????
