Wait List / Re: William and Mary Waitlist
« on: June 05, 2009, 10:08:44 AM »
I got a response. See below. :-[ Does this mean I'm pretty much hopeless?

Also, did anyone receive a differenty type of E-mail/letter from them?

------------------
Dear XXX

When you were placed on the wait list for admission to William & Mary Law School, you were advised that favorable action could be taken on your application only in the event of openings in the class. We are currently over-committed in the Class of 2012 based on deposits paid. We may be able to admit some wait listed students if we receive withdrawals, so we will continue to maintain an active wait list throughout the summer.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict the number of spaces, if any, that will become available. Please let us know if you have elected to enroll in another law school.  Dean Neal Wixson is the primary contact for wait list correspondence.

We appreciate your interest in William & Mary Law School and regret being unable to take favorable action on your application at this time. It has been an extremely competitive year with our applications continuing at record levels.

Sincerely,

Neal E. Wixson

I got the same email; i think everyone on the wait list did. I don't know about hopeless, but it probably means that our chances are not terrific. I guess you should just shoot them an email telling them your situation and hope for the best.

And I have favorite jurists, too.
And who might that be?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: W&L v. Ohio State ($$)
« on: May 08, 2009, 07:43:56 PM »
Ok, I'm gonna resurrect this thread in the interest of not cluttering the boards more than absolutely necessary. What do you guys think of W&L? I just got off the waitlist there and am very happy, but I'm worried about employment prospects. It seems that the school is losing some its power (and I'm not judging purely by US News). Should I go ahead and take it with the $150 k debt?

Well I do understand that OSU if regional, but Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia are not that much more appealing. No offense to the midwest, but after 20 years there I'm reasdy to leave.

Where should I go next fall? / W&L v. Ohio State ($$)
« on: March 30, 2009, 11:14:06 PM »
So here is my dilemma: I'm an Ohio resident who got accepted to Ohio State with a half ride and George Mason with no money. I want to go to GMU because I really want to live in the DC/Virginia area and ideally clerk, but the thought of 60K of extra debt is not appealing. I wouldn't mind OSU as such: the atmosphere sounds fun enough, but I worry that I'll be stuck in Ohio for the rest of life. I'd also really like to clerk, and it seems that GMU has the advantage there. So what are your thoughts? Is the 60k extra worth it?

So here's my dilemma: I'm an Ohio resident who got accepted to OSU with a half ride and George Mason with no money. I really want to go to GMU because I've always wanted to live in the DC/Virginia area, but the thought of obtaining 60k extra in debt does not sound appealing. So what are your thoughts? Do is still have a shot at getting a good Virginia job if I go to Ohio State? Will I live in Ohio for the rest of my life? Is the 60 K worth it?

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Dec. 08 Scores Are Coming Today!
« on: December 29, 2008, 01:02:09 PM »
Well .. .there goes doing any work .. j/k for the most part (they're watching, always watching).

Just to confirm, which update box is the one we are talking about, the one on the Account Status -> LSAT page?

yes

or My Docs > LSAT

both have the same info

Well the thing is, My Docs -> LSAT has always had the date there, for me at least.

It's My Docs > LSAT. Look at the Update box. If it says 01/05/2009 then your box has been filled.

Quick Question: Do the actual scores come out in the same order as the update boxes? In other words, If your box is the first to be filled will you be the first to receive your score? i ask because i was one of the last to receive an update in Oct. and one of the last to receive a score.
