Offer: GULC, Vandy
WL at: Harvard, Upenn, Virninia, Cornell, Duke, Northwestern...

On the bright side, ad offers/scholarships mean I'm in demand (so to speak...)
but would it backfire? Would it make me look not committed enough?
Or should I say that I've turned down these offers? but wouldn't that make me look coy, desperate & stupid?

Any thought, guys?

Oh, one more thing, if I'm putting down deposits at both schools, would it cause problems?

Where should I go next fall? / Now what? GULC (45K) vs Vandy (81K)???

Hi guys!

First I wanna thank all the kind responses to my previous post (http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,4019038.0.html). You guys are just great! JeNeSaisLaw, GhostofTomJoad, Contract2008, observationalist, and everyone else... appreciate the help!

I really liked what I see here about Vandy, and just about to put down the deposit. Then I received a letter from GULC offering a 15k/year merit-based scholarship, which runs up to 45k in 3 years.

So now it comes down to this: Vandy (81K) vs. GULC (45K), provided that I don't stink exceptionally in the class. I'm OK with small towns, big cities, country music, doesn't really matter. But I noticed GULC is just two blocks away from the White House, that's kinda cool (might bump into Obama...)

I've got about 20K right now, so if I go with Vandy, I don't need loans the first year. For GULC,I'm still 30K short for the first year. I could try to get a loan or borrow from friends, but that's a hefty amount.

Do you think GULC is 36K better than Vandy (so to speak)? Any thought?

Where should I go next fall? / GULC vs Vandy($)???

Hi guys,

Really need some help here! I've been admitted to GULC (no money) and Vandy (offers 27k/year, 81k for 3 years). Now, as a foreigner (Chinese, engineering background), I don't really have much geographical preference. And my money is tight. I can manage about $20k, and the rest has to come from loans(which require a consigner in the US)

Which one should I go with here? GULC is a T14 (ranked 14 by the USNews), Vandy ranks 15. Is there a huge gap between the two in terms of academic environment, employment perspective, influence, etc? I don't plan to stay long in the US after graduation (probably after repaying the loans.)

Any suggestion or additional info is welcome. Please help me out here, thanks!!!

I'm really curious. I'm WLed at Harvard, Columbia, Upenn, UVA, Northwestern, and G-town, (just got off the list of G-town), but no acceptance elsewhere so far. What does it say about my application?

My basic stat here: LSAT:165,168,175, GPA:77/100(about 3/5?).I'm an international student, and my college requires 5 years to get a BS, so I don't think GPA here really means the same as in the US. But what does this high WL and low acceptance rate mean? Is it because of the multipal LSAT scores? or low GPA? or a not-so-exciting PS and working experience? Anyone has any idea?

I want to know this because I want to get an idea of my chances of getting off WL of those big name schools. Should I keep waiting, or should I just go with G-town? What are the chances of getting off those big name school WL? Is that just a polite way of turning you down? insights needed.

I just got off the WL of G-town too. Since I still got WLed at Harvard, Columbia, Upenn, I don't know what to choose... ::) Any suggestions?

Did you also get the email from Dean Cornblatt? And how much time did they give you to put down a deposit?

Yes, I did, and the deadline is May 9th, which is impossible for me to comply, because I live in China, even if I send out  the deposit today, it would still require 15 days to reach America, and I haven't offcially recieve the "letter" yet, and have no idea if it's binding or not. I've send out a letter asking for an extention, hoping that could provide some breathing time for me.  ::)

My dilemma is:Should I keep waiting on the big H, Columbia, or Upenn? What should I do? Anyone any suggestions? It would be really helpful, thanks!
