Studying and Exam Taking / Summer Prep
« on: June 07, 2008, 10:19:02 AM »
Just from doing research on various websites and books I know there are 2 schools of thought on prepping before your 1L year ;
1. To go full steam ahead and prep
2. "Dont waste your time....enjoy your summer , its the last free time youll enjoy in a while ".

I made up my mind that I am going to prep for school and have been doing so for about a month.....at the very least it cant hurt to get a jump on things . If anyone else out there is working ahead , what books are you using ? Is there anything you found particularly useful or not useful ?

I just got my letter from the University heights housing complex saying I got a room for next year . I figured ill just go with that for one year because it will be close to school and less of a hassell then having to hunt everywhere for an apt . Is anyone else staying there next year ?

Red wings are still taking this thing no matter what . Last night was a fluke !!
Im def not a wings fan , but that is the way this thing is gonna go down . The Pens have a bright future though .

As for the Crosby question....he is sick , but imho , Malkin will turn out to be the better player . Kind of scary to think what will happen if they keep all those guys together

I was telling Mayzell that I was thinking about living at the University Heights graduate housing....but as he predicted it is on a waitlist . Im not really looking to get roomies off of craigslist or anything like that , so I think i might live on my own for the first year . Does anyone know of any nice apartment complexes near the school ? ( walking distance or a short drive away ? )

General Board / Re: What is the most difficult 1L subject ??

It looks alot like property is one of those things you get or you dont . Alot of people on here and that Ive talked to seem to think that it is fairly straight forward and youre easiest class . Ive been trying to review a little bit and im finding it to be a pain compared to the other subjects . Im at least glad to see that some other people on here found it to be confusing in some aspects also . Does anyone think that it is one of those subjects you just get or you dont ?

As someone who is going to be a 1L in the fall , I would like to know from people who have already been or are currently 1Ls , which subject they found to be the most challenging and why ? Was there any particular aspect of the course that made it difficult ?

Im not from Albany either but when I went to visit I def got the vibe that the neighborhoods could change on you in an instant too . Im trying to be really mindful of that after some shady experiences as an undergrad in Boston .

Albany , Serenity....what do you guys think about the workload ? Do you feel overwhelmed ?

Haha....what is that paper on anyway ?

So what kinds of jobs have you done over the summer ? What does the on campus recruiting look like...just trying to get a picture of the agencies , firms , etc that really recruit at the school .

Also....is there any chance of getting any scholarship money out of the school if you do well in your 1l year ?

Hey ,

Im not really looking to land a Biglaw job , im really trying to get into government . Albany seemed like a logical choice for that.....good to here the job prospects are strong though . Thanks for the insight !!!
