First off cali, quit watching so much law and order.  The majority of the law is handled through paper, not through a courtroom.  Also, even trial lawyers are generally making their points in the form of briefs, not some song and dance routine in front of a trial judge.  Maybe if you are chasing ambulances, but even then, it's going to be more about settlements and negotiations and there is a reason why the companies the little guy sues are represented by mega firms and not by Average Joe Attorney.

Second, it's "ridiculous" not "rediculous," thanks for furthering my point.

My points are good points and I even lightened up on my tone just to get across what rings true throughout the legal profession.  Obviously you are defensive because you go to a T3 or T4 and maybe you do or don't have something lined up after graduation.  I hope that you become the exception and make millions.  All I'm saying is that 90% of the time, T3/T4 grads are in far less favorable position than those that graduate from higher ranked schools.

I really hate when I agree with 2Lman.  It actually pains me in a way.  Nonetheless, I think he's right.  There are, of course, many exceptions to the rule - a lot of the people at T3 and T4 schools are there because they made mistakes in the past.  I don't think they should be punished by us just because they didn't have a high enough UGPA.

Also, 2Lman - lay off on the spelling errors - all of us make mistakes, and I'm sure he knows how to spell ridiculous.

Third, I still have no clue what a PCP is.  And, 2Lman, your school doesn't outrank me, so please avoid calling me stupid.

I'm going to change the subject. This thread was about the new USNews rankings. I think I'll point out that my law school went up one entire point. Whoop-dee-do. Someone break out the champagne.  ::)

Which school?

I agree.  Way to put it out there with some tact.  And, no, I'm not being sarcastic.

I'm glad you volunteer.  But one would think that someone who works with the less fortunate would understand that not everyone can go to a Top 20 school or get a biglaw job.  When you volunteer at the local mission, do you arrogantly tell the homeless people about the sweet job you've got lined up?

I get that you're probably not an A*hole all the time, but volunteering doesn't excuse your being an A*hole now. . . even if it is just on a message board.

Vap, you cannot quote posts I thought were too operahie (how do you make operah an adjective or whatever I am trying to make it?) and erased already, not fair.

Haha.  I was wondering where that post went.  Just put it back up thorc.  It was well said.

Since 2LMan already has a SA job, the only obstacle in his path is the hiring committee finding out that he's "2LMan" and not making him an offer.

I wonder if he has the balls to tell us which firm he's going to so that we can contact the firm and let them know the quality of person they are hiring.  I'm guessing no.

I do find it amusing that the people who say the meanest stuff go to good schools, but never the very top schools.

Don't worry, 2LMan.  One day you'll be an alpha male--maybe even in real life and not just internet message boards.  Another word of advice, when you're working in Biglaw and start posting on the Greedy Associate boards, you should really change your screen name.  It screams homo-erotic D-Bag.

funny cause it's true - lol

Hilarious.

Transferring / Re: When your school does not rank

I read on the school's website that UTexas Law does not rank its students.  I am not referring to USNWR rankings; I am talking about class rank for purposes of transferring.

If a student does not know his rank in the class because the school does not rank its students, how does that affect transfer applications?

The school's curve is likely still public, so the school will be able to roughly determine your rank based on your GPA.

UT is top 20.  What rankings are you talking about?
