Current Law Students / Can someone tell me how RA gigs work?
« on: February 03, 2009, 08:19:03 PM »
If I am unable to secure anything during OCI, there is one professor that I would really enjoy working for this summer. Can anyone tell me how that works? Do I contact the professor? Do they contact students they want? Thanks for any help.

My Contracts professor was a visiting professor just out of an LLM program. It was her first class ever. She got a lot better as the semester went on but I had trouble in the beginning and never recovered.

We went through an entire casebook in one semester. We skipped very few cases. It was hell.

that would be nice to have 1 semester.  We have to take 2 semesters of the stuff.  ugh.

This is the first year it's one semester at my school. K's 4 hours, Con Law 4 hours, Torts 6 hours 2 semesters, Civ Pro 6 hours 2 semesters, Crim Law 3 hours, Property 4 hours. That's the first year for us.

I'll say this as well. My group of friends were all a bit freaked out after exams. We didn't talk specifics but we talked about how scared we were that we'd make awful grades. Those same people all made good grades, some were excellent. Has anyone else found this to be the case as well. Maybe, the more you know, the more you realize you don't know.

I'm going to miss the Dean's List by .36 grade points (we're on a 12 point scale). I'm a little disappointed about it, but when I consider the amount of time and effort I put in the first semester I'm just happy to be in the top half of my class. I'll have a lot more time to devote this semester for reasons I'll keep to myself. Most all of my close friends made good grades so that's great.

I don't want to do biglaw. I really want to do government work or public service. The job I really want is a summer internship in the state AG office.

Job Search / Summer job opportunities for T2 with average grades?
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:25:15 PM »
I haven't received my grades from the fall yet, and I really have no idea what to expect. I am preparing myself mentally for bad to decent grades. That way I can handle it and will be very happy with good grades. What are the job opportunities like? I'm preparing the necessary documents and will be on top of applications. Any help or past experience would be great. Thanks.
