Law School Applications / Boston College has the most terrible system
« on: January 18, 2006, 11:11:16 AM »
So not only have they not requested report or anything (and they were one of the first I applied to) but I emailed them a couple weeks ago b/c i made a mistake on my app. and nobody ever got back to me. (i forgot to put my sat scores! hope i can fix that.) What gives?

I just applied to stanford a couple weeks ago and just got a complete notice. On one hand, I have low LSAT compared to their numbers so it could just be a quick ding. On the other hand I had a connection there that did a recomendation for me.... so maybe it's going quickly because one of those two. thoughts? or is it normal to go complete so soon?

Personal Statement / santa clara promt
« on: January 11, 2006, 02:07:28 PM »

Please compose a personal statement indicating the reasons you want to undertake the study of law at Santa Clara University as well as your special interests, life experiences, accomplishments, goals, and any other information that might be helpful to the Admissions Committee.

Do they really want you to say why santa clara? I am not particularly interested in the IP thing so I don't know what to say... location close to home? Ability to mooch off parents? (jk i would not say that of course)

Where should I go next fall? / why is santa clara's salary so high?
« on: January 10, 2006, 03:35:57 PM »
I'm looking for safety schools in california (pepperdine, san diego, santa clara, san francisco) and santa clara's salary seems so much higher than like pepperdine, yet they have low numbers (lsat, gpa) WHY?

So i only submitted my UC hastings app a few days ago, a week at most. I just got the confirmation # and checked my status. It looks like this:

Application Received
We have requested your LSDAS report and your application is being processed

Ready to Review
Your application is complete and is either in committee for review or pending committee review. The committee may take several weeks to complete the review of your application.

Decision- XXX
All admissions decisions are final. If you are Admitted, an admit package will be mailed to you. If you are Waitlisted, an email with specific instructions regarding the waitlist will be sent to you. If you are Denied, the decision will be mailed to you.
UC Hastings does not have an appeal process for applicants that are denied admission.

Does this mean they made a decision? This is killing me!

General Off-Topic Board / Holy sh** flooding in NORCAL!
« on: December 31, 2005, 03:15:32 AM »
Anyone else in the bay area or surrounding? I have lived here my whole life and never seen flooding here. (rohnert park) I can't even get home! I had to take my shoes off and practically wade across the street. This is a little cool!

Law School Applications / White or Decline to state?
« on: December 30, 2005, 10:36:34 PM »
I don't have very good chances at my favorite schools, and it seems that they give preference to those that are not caucasian... will it be better to check "white" or "decline to state" ?

Law School Applications / Should I really write 4 pgs. for Boalt? Did yoy?
« on: December 30, 2005, 10:04:51 PM »
I am so sick of editing my PS and finally have it down to a little less than two and a half. I will cut parts for those schools that limit to 2 pages, but I don't want to add fluff for Boalt's 4 pg. limit. Has anyone else submitted a shorter statement to Boalt even though they allow more space?

Law School Applications / UC Davis Fee waiver form?
« on: December 28, 2005, 05:19:26 PM »
I just submitted my app. to Davis. First, LSAC never gave me the option to charge the fee to my card... wtf? Also, when I printed the certification letter it has a box you can check and it says the application fee waiver form should be downloaded from the law school's website and submitted along with certification letter. Does this mean I have a fee waiver? I went to their website and can't find the form! Any ideas?
