Italy played well, but it was the first time in this tournament that they have shown anything like adequate football. Pirlo, in particular, had a very good game.
France is overrated.
Portugal - Italy in the final, and the Italians will win the cup. Who will believe then that the Italian side is the best that the game has to offer? Only Italians.
Well, this Russian believes that the Italians are the strongest side, top-to-bottom, bar none. Unlike more than a few on this board, I also believed Brazil was vastly overrated and would have a disappointing World Cup. My only qualm with Italy is their defense-heavy play, which is unattractive and projects seemingly "inadequate" football. But, be rest assured, they are the strongest force to reckon with this time of year, having conceded ZERO opposing goals this world cup and having won 13 straight international matches. But hey, Juninho doesnt start for Brazil! (jk)
Newayz Red, how was Germany? Any good stories? I feel bad for Ivory Coast and my main hommies Eboue and Toure.

My baby Italy pulled through... WHAT A MATCH!!! Now all that separates me from winning the office pool is a an italy win, portugal win, or german 3rd place finish. Every1 overlooked Italy, but they're foolish. Aside from the obvious fact that the Azzurri had one of the easiest brackets to the finals, they also have the deepest bench, strongest backline, and most players in the optimal age of experience and performance. They should go on to win this damn thing, though I wouldnt mind seeing King Henry and Zizou lift the trophy yet again. Also, thank goodness Brazil dropped out early, as I had predicted... lack of passion should always be punished by defeat.

For whatever it's worth:
BU's policy is that they will, from now on, take only an applicant's highest LSAT score into consideration.
UCLA will continue to average scores.

You guys have to understand that part of the reason this diving occurs is because FIFA policy turned the World Cup referees into trigger happy card-slangers. Thanks to the dubious foul calls throughout the world cup, it's not difficult to understand why diving is becoming so prevalent in these knockout stages. (i can guarantee you every
manager urged their forwards to make the most of challenges against them).
This officiating crisis is really making the World Cup a coin-flip, anything-goes affair, but you have to give credit to referee Roberto Rosetti (who, alert the press, happens to be Italian) for handing out only one
yellow card during the Spain-France game. All I can say is that if this world cup was officiated in EPL style, yellow cards would still be constantly brandished, but for diving players.
ANYONE WHO ARUGES THAT ITALY'S DIVING HAS NOT HELPEDD THEM TO WIN GAMES IS BLIND, SOCCER-IGNORANT, OR JUST STUPID.
Umm.. if you're referring to Italy in this World Cup, you're sadly mistaken. Take it game by game: vs. Ghana... no help from the refs here, great end to end action and two decisive goals brilliantly put away by the Azzurri. vs. US... no salient diving here, just awful officiating that gave Italy a man advantage that amounted to no gains as scores remained level. vs. Czech... Ref or no ref, Italy dominated this match and deservedly topped their group. vs. Australia... the officiating, if anything, hurt them because they were down a man to a lesser team for more than a third of the match. Still, they held on. As most soccer pundits agree, the true diver nations hail from Spain, Portugal and France... not Italy.
BUT HEY!!! You call the Italians "sissies" and obviously have the gift of vision, so you must be right and they must dive much more than other nations. It must be genetic, since many of Italy's first team players ply their club-trade on foreign soil.

I HATE ITALY'S TEAM. In addition to having-by far-the easiest draw of any team in the single-elimination round, we have seen yet another incident of pro-European officiating and a game won by whining, diving players. I'll be rooting for the Ukraine in the next match (largely because they are a 'less European' team than the Swiss), but more importantly hoping that the winning team has no red cards or injuries, as I want to see the sissy Italians go down.
This is ridiculous. The easiest draw? That should be fitting considering what they had to endure in the group stages... before finishing top, of course.
Won by whining and poor officiating? are you mad? Italy was down to 10 men for 30+ minutes!!!
I picked Italy to win because they have, by far, the best defense in the tournament (dont bring Rio and the wanks up around here). Australia couldn't penetrate Italy's box for the life of them... impregnible, effortless, defense with a man down and missing their's and the world's best defender... Nesta the King.

Enjoy! Some average chicks in there but some outstanding talent too
Thank you for that. I think I may have to marry me a Brazilian chick.
In other news, I need Italy to win all in order to save my bracket in a pool. I wonder what the chances of that are? Nesta, totti, gilardino.. do what those pathetic orange sissies failed to!
