Ok, I'm completely stressed this semester. Not only am I falling behind in my class reading and unable to actually do briefs because of time constraints, but I have no idea how I'm going to deal with the fact that I have a final (for a course that lasted one year) in two weeks AND a brief due the day before that final. I'm nowhere near done with my outline, and I have no idea where to start with this brief.  :'( :'( :'( It just makes me want to go to sleep and do nothing. Siiigh.

60 firms is nothing - I have a great class standing, and I sent out nearly 250 resumes (not including OCI). I sent out resumes to the American Law Top 200 firms and a ton of small/medium size firms, as well as sole practitioners. You have to cast your net MUCH wider, and consider relocating, too.

I actually have a classmate who is at the bottom of my class, and just started personally calling graduates of our school who work at smaller firms. Somehow, the girl got five offers. Sometimes, you have to just pound the pavement and get aggressive.

How can you afford the postage for that?

I've also heard that if/when the employer starts talking about how great his or her firm is, it can be a good sign because it's like they are trying to "sell" you their firm. I don't know though!

I just used Dressler's treatise, and we didn't even use his casebook. I did really well in the class. Definitely recommend it!

We're just now taking legal writing (last semester was legal research), and we've only turned in our rough draft for our first memo, and have yet to receive feedback. In the interest of providing the OCI employers with a legal piece of writing, I figured this would be my best bet as a writing sample -- would it be tacky to type an italicized noted across the top, noting that this was our first submission in this semester's course, which is our first legal writing class?

Thanks for any input.
