Acceptances / Re: TULANE LAW SCHOOL THREAD
« on: April 17, 2006, 08:41:34 PM »
I am visiting Tulane at the end of April (couldn't get there before then).  So far, I am leaning towards it because of the environmental law programs and the scholarship they offered me.  Anyone know what the curve is like there?

Pretty far away from my native CA though.....

Acceptances / Re: The Official Scholarships Thread - 2005/2006

Tulane: $20,000 per year- 2nd and 3rd year awards require 3.0.  Information arrived with acceptance letter.

University of San Francisco: $16,000 for 1st year (no requirements).  I think the award arrived the day after acceptance letter.

3.12/161 and 166

Out of school for 5 years, volunteer activities during and after college.

I think my Tulane award might have been based upon my personal statement (interest in environmental law, specifically as an international topic).

I am leaning towards USF over Tulane...and Tulane even offered me more money.  However, I am still waiting to hear from 7 more schools.  I don't know if I am ready to relocate across the country.

Is that completely insane?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: anyone not heard from Hastings?
« on: March 29, 2006, 02:53:17 PM »
I haven't heard a thing from Hastings or Davis..or 5 other schools I have applied to.  I have only received two responses, and both of them have seat deposits due in mid-April.  Very frustrating.  AND, the first school I got a repsonse from was the last school I applied to...by almost a month.

Acceptances / Re: Who's in at USF?

I'm in, but I have only heard from 2 schools so far, so I feel like everything is up in the air.  I would like to stay in the Bay Area for personal reasons, but the other school I have had a response from is Tulane (last year it was ranked pretty highly...and they also gave me more money then USF).  Not sure what I am going to end up doing.

(Sorry...I realize this is not a very informative post...just my general confusion...)

Financial Aid / Re: Has Anyone Been Offered a FinAid Package Yet?
« on: March 24, 2006, 07:23:04 PM »
I got 20,000 (per year based on 3.0 GPA in law school...if GPA goes down after 1st year, the award is 50%) from Tulane and 16,000 from USF.  Haven't even heard anything at all from other schools.

Financial Aid / Getting a little paranoid

Quick question for anyone, just to soothe my nerves.  I did the FAFSA, and received my SAR, made corrections, and received that before the "priority deadline."  However, I keep seeing posts where people talk about mailing in the FAFSA to their schools.  Did I miss something really important?  Don't the schools get the SAR directly?

thanks.

You can also look in the "Financial Aid" section of LSD for more info.  You can add the schools online which is VERY easy.
