Acceptances, Denials, and Waitlists / Re: Chapman Vs. Southwestern
« on: April 11, 2006, 08:57:47 AM »
Anyone considering taking Chapman's $$$ over a tier 2 Ca school  i.e. Pepperdine Loyola USD? I hear good things about Chapman and money is hard to pass up

A good way of describing Southwestern is that its the blue collar law school of L.A. Some grads make it out to top firms in the area (so i've heard)

I didnt go friday, I had to work...  I just drove up the coast yesterday and took my own little tour of the law school.  I thought the inside of the building was way better than that of USD.  The outside could use some work.  But the view from the library is simply amazing, I don't know how I'll study while I'm there.

Have you looked into places to live? I hear on campus is pretty pricey

I decided on Pepperdine.........

I think huntington would be way too difficult to commute from.  Even from San Mo you'll get some traffic up to Malibu..... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh la traffic

Something else I found

35% of students receive grants from USD                 median grant amount 15k
81.5%  "       "     "         "    Pepperdine          median grant amount 1.5K

got this from

Yeah I couldnt help to notice the 35k tuition on the USD acceptance letter....

btw, veganchick, did you just call l.a. yucky?

no progress at all... I'm leaning towards Pepperdine just because I've been doing most of my networking in L.A..... But I may take Chapman if they offer $$$$...  I think you'll get into Loyola, and I personally would take Loyola over USD and Pepperdine... Where do you stand?
