I should probably elaborate on my dilemma.  My boyfriend of years and years and years (great grammar, huh?) just got into Stanford B school so of course there is the push for Hastings.  There is a big difference between the two in terms of rankings and #s employed after graduation.  I found this out 2 days ago and since then, I have been bordering on crazy.  I think BU is probably a better opportunity, but I probably do want to end up back in California.  I got a pretty good scholarship to BU//mediocre to Hastings.  Argh! :-\  Any thoughts?  I am enjoying the east coast insight.  I should probably also state I did grow up in the Midwest so I know the humid/cold cycle.

Corporate law is definitely the direction I plan on heading.  It is interesting that you say they don't help you find public sector jobs.  Out here it is just the opposite.  You can go to job fair after job fair of public sector jobs.  Corporate jobs are much more competitive.  BU's job placement stats are impressive.

Glad to see BU going up?  It's hard to doubt the power of the rankings.  I know several soon to be law students.  We jokingly refer to US New and World Report as the bible.  It absolutely affects a school's rep amongst all candidates.

Unfortunately, Cali schools got killed this year.  I guess the terminator hasn't helped our education system too well.

Does anyone know how the actual facilities/amenities are at BU?  So far I have ascertained that the building itself is ugly. Any more interesting insight?

I am also on Boalt's lovely list.  Interesting that they dropped 3 ranks in the new US News rankings.  Has anyone heard any buzz on past years? Do you think there is any hope for us?   :D

So, I have been wait-listed at Boalt, which would probably be my number one.  So, I probably will need to choose between BU and Hastings.  Ahhh, ye 'ole West Coast vs. East Coast.  I must confess I have never been to Boston and I am definitely planning a trip.  I would love some input on life in Boston and how the law school is.  I know all the stats...now I need to the good stuff.  Both are solid schools, but I have to make this tough choice.  Help me!
