Job Search / Re: Securities Exchange Commission - Difficult to land?

I have worked for the NASD & SEC, many of our interns went on to become staff attorneys.  Many of the staff attorneys became compliance specialists and in house counsel for the big firms.  They made awesome money.

Is it prestigious, I don't know.  Is it a good career move, absolutely (if you want to work securities).  Plus the hours and benefits are great.  Good place to get your feet wet.

No.  Rank helps no matter what you end up doing.  There are lots of qualified candidates out there, every little thing that can set you apart will help.

"Seize"? Wow, some people's spelling never CEASES to amaze me either.  NubianEsq, invest in a dictionary before you take the bar.

Well if you are interested in joining securties, you should check out the NASD and SEC.  They are always looking for staff attorneys, and if you do well, there are lots of opportunities to go work for the brokerage houses and get P-A-I-D!

The most important thing is stay possitive. You still have a great degree and if you pass the bar, you will be very marketable.

Wish you the best of luck,  hope you find something soon.

Job Search / Re: What kind of $ are solo practitioners making?

HAHA that last post is hilarious/ridiculous.

I have worked in BIGLAW and boutique law.  I can honestly say that a successful sole practitioner makes just as much if not more than many attorneys at BIGLAW firms.  On the other hand, Learned Hand is correct in saying that the business side/BS is a headache.  Accounting, people quitting on you, firing people, hiring people, marketing yourself, etc.  It is tough being your own boss, but if you can hack it, the rewards can have unlimited potential.

Ouch, sorry to hear that.

Was that the only firm you worked with/for during law school?  You might have to dig a bit to find some prospects.  What part of the country are you in?

Your spelling is the most offensive thing here  :-\
