General Board / Re: Thinking ahead

You need to give a call to the NYBar professional review board. This should not be a problem, as long as there are no other "checks" in your past.

i am taking the lsat in less than two weeks and then i will apply at thomas jefferson in san diego. it seems that this is not the most difficult school to get into.  can anybody give me some feed back on this. thanks

You seem to be a newbie, so here is a heads up...ALL law school can be difficult to get into, it really depends on you personally...more info would be needed to gauge your chances...
avg. LSAT
GPA
Crim history
EC's
minority?

Thanks Big Daddy! Next time I need an unqualified opinion, I know to whom I will turn. The choice is not that simple. Wake is also in the top tier and the name seems to carry more weight despite the fact that they are lower in the rankings.

You're the one asking for opinions of law schools from people who have never been before...you don't want our unqualified opinion, don't ask.

My point is that you really cannot go wrong with either choice. I know there are alot of rankings whores who say "if you're not top-14, don't bother"....bull.
Go to a school you will enjoy for three years, that will help you in your studying and THAT is what will help you get a job....grades, not rank

Actually, yest, I went to Cal Poly for undergrad and grad school.  I teach there now; however, it is time for me to move on--too hard to make a living teaching is SLO.  I'll be in SAC in late July.  Let's keep this thread open until then and get some folks together at a bar/ restaurant before orientation.  Sound Good?
SLOguy

Sounds like a plan. I will be there mid June. I will check out places to eat (read: drink tons of beer), and get back later.

Hey bigdaddy,
I'll be there.  I'm in the night program, and I am moving from San Luis Obispo.  I'd love to meet in SAC over the summer (possibly for a beer) to start networking etc.  Hook it up.  SLOguy
Did you go to CalPoly? My buddy graduated in 2002 with a degree in Forestry Management. We are actually from Lompoc (Go Braves). When will you be in Sac??
