Thank you for your very detailed information. They are very helpful! This is what I have in my head as right now for the next 10 years.
Option 1: If I decide to work in USPTO first
I will probably spend the first 5 years there, then go to law school (if I still want more school). After that I will want to work in a private firm, can be either small or larger firms (at least 120k in salary is my goal). After gaining enough experience, I might start own firm.
Option 2: If I decide to go to law school first
Will want to work at a firm that pays at least 100k, not sure if thats possible. Then eventually start my own firm after gaining enough experience.
The major difference between the 2 options is the experience at USPTO. I heard that a lot firms like to hire former patent examiners, that's why I am thinking about working there first. But I also don't feel like reappling law schools again in the future because it's so much pain. If I don't have any experience at USPTO, would that put me in a disadvantage when I'm looking for a job in this area in the future?
