Current Law Students / Re: are your classmates snobby a**holes?

My classmates at UGA Law have been great.  Its the football crowd that takes over Athens in the fall that I'm not so sure about (cue dueling banjos).

I hear you about not wanting to do write on though.  I just got the packet today: 10 page memo plus a really long blue-book exercise just to try to get on.  Luckily, at UGA we have a couple of journals too so 90 or so people make it onto something

I heard public defender jobs are a lot more competitive than you'd think considering the pay sucks.

Also, here in Atlanta they just laid off s ton of public defenders because of budget crunches.

Thanks for the detailed response.  I guess there is a good reason that type of fact pattern showed up on an old exam.

Current Law Students / Property question
« on: April 29, 2007, 07:57:02 PM »
What interest does this create?

"Her will devises Blackacre to her nieces and nephew, Amanda, Brad, and Courtney.  The will states: "My three devisees shall hold fee title as joint tenants with the right of survivorship, provided Amanda shall have the sole right of possession for her lifetime."

This violates the unity of possession required to create a joint tenancy, but tenants in common have the same requirement, so what is the interest?

Current Law Students / Re: Is this legal??

Since it is a sorrority house would it be a license instead of a lease?  A license holder doesn't have the right to exclusive possession, right?  Kind of like a hotel room where the cleaning lady can come in or a dorm room where an RA could probably come in for inspections without notice.

I read the E&Es in Civ Pro and Torts.  I definitely think this helped me first semester as I knew what was coming in those classes before it was covered.  I don't think contracts and property would have helped as much because those E&Es aren't as well written.

Midtown along Piedmont Ave or Peachtree St. between Ponce and 14 st. is arguably the best neighborhood in the city if you care about being able to walk to bars/restaurants etc.  It is also close to John Marshall, which is on W. Peachtree at about 17th st.  Problem is that there aren't any nice apartment complexes in that area that don't cost a fortune and pro-move only deals with complexes.  Check out to find something more affordable from a private small scale landlord.

Current Law Students / Re: What do ACLU attorneys earn?
« on: February 23, 2007, 08:14:43 PM »

No Jacka$$, that used to be my job. I spent 5 years in the Marines so douches like the ACLU could whine about how some piece of crap should be afforded "free speech" while at the same time those very same ACLU douches could care less about me and my buddies and what we did for them.

Is that really why you spent 5 years in the marines, so the ACLU could whine?
Just because you served in the military, it doesn't justify you claiming that free speech rights have little value.
