General Board / Re: law school student budy

HA I guess you are right, they are all like that. But it's not like I am anti-soial either. I have been rather social my whole life. Always had lots of friends, college athlete etc.... It's just something about the students here that I can't stand.

General Board / law school student budy

Simply put, the student body at my school consists of a bunch of rich, preppy $HIT$. Is this this generally how it is or did I just pick a bad one. Thanks.

Don't people who withdraw count towards the curve anyway?

General Board / Re: Relationships in Law school?
« on: September 11, 2006, 01:11:55 PM »
Totally possible. Whether I could maintain a relationship in law school was something that I was worried about as well.

My girlfriend goes to grad school about an hour a way and I spend every weekend with her. Studying in her presence, as was brought up in another posting, works out real well. I take Friday off once classes end, go out with her Friday night, study in her presence Saturday, go out Saturday night, and study again in her presence Sunday, until I go home on Sunday night, to study even more. During the week, she goes to school and studies, as do I. The weekends, we have a good time while also getting things done.

General Board / Re: is law school really that tough?
« on: July 25, 2006, 11:30:20 PM »
I will be a 1L in the fall but from what I have gathered from posts over the last few months, it seems as if law school is as hard you make it. If you desperately want to finish in the top 10% the law school experience will be very tough. However, most people on this board make it seem as if it is not too tough to simply coast through law school. Is this accurate?

General Board / Law school vs. 9 to 5 job...give your opinion
« on: June 28, 2006, 05:39:57 PM »
I will be a 1L in the fall. For the summer, I am working at a large law firm that specializes in debt collection. I am on the phone for literally 8 hours a day with angry disgruntled debtors. Honestly, I cannot friggin wait for law school to start. Am I right when I say that law school is without question better than most 9-5 jobs out there, specifically mine? Law school HAS to be better than this lol. Let me know what you think.

General Board / Re: Balancing academics and social life

Thanks for the response.

I had a rather interesting experience as I visited my mother's school this afternoon. A teacher comes up to me and goes, "So I hear you are going to law school next year." I responded by saying, yes I will be attending in the fall. She responded by saying, "Wow, good luck. You are going to have so much work you will barely have time to piss! Your life is over!" I chuckled and moved on. I guess this is part of that "1L hype" you speak of.

General Board / Balancing academics and social life

I am a soon to be 1L and am wondering what it is TRUTHFULLY going to be like.

Are the majority of people on this board attempting to instill fear by exaggerating the amount of time they actually spend studying? Do people attempt to make it look more strenuous and time consuming then it really is? Or is the law school experience as bad as some make it out to be.

Although I am prepared to work as hard as I have to in order to put myself in the best position possible, I would still like to maintain some sort of a social life. I do not plan on going out during the week like I did in undergrad, however, I would like to be able to go to the bar or keep in touch with friends on Friday and Saturday nights, and have some down time on the weekend. I will be attending a part-time day program where I will be taking one less class a semester. Is this a reasonable expectation?

You really think every person has a strong command of the material come exam time? I feel like in every school no matter what level you are going to have students who slack and not be prepared.
