Law School Discussion

Coming from Oregon, Colorado is pretty close.  I'm a huge snowboarder and being spitting distance from Vail has its perks.  CU is pricey for out of state, but I'm pretty sure I can get residency year 2 and 3.  Plus, CU already offered me a little bit of $.  I am really nervous about the ABA thing though.  I don't plan to practice in Colorado after graduation, so that is a major issue.

Overall, best thing about Colorado is that we could get a dog.

My vote is for Duke, too.  Are you coming right out of college?  Having a $100K weight around your neck will be devastating.  You may be forced to take a job for the $ instead of the experience.  I have been working for 5 years as an insurance broker and work with counsel inside and out.  Everyone I talk to says if they were to do it over again, they would go to a cheaper school.  Plus, when I visited Stanford everyone was so f-ing pretentious I wanted to puke.  The only thing beautiful about that school is the campus.  The students and faculty that I met were among the snobbiest people I've ever encountered.  I did not find that at any of the other Cali schools I visited.

Go to Duke, graduate top 5% and take some snobby Stanford grads job.

My apps weren't complete until Jan 31 and Hastings accepted me early March.

No word from UCLA, Berkeley, or Davis.

I only got a card from UCLA, but nada from Boalt or King.  What's the deal?  Just silence or have other people heard anything further?  I tried to find a status check website, but no luck.

Should I go to Emory and be done with it?  I got $60k.
