Current Law Students / Re: Dean's List in Law School

Can you get on the Dean's list at law school?

Also, is it fairly difficult to graduate with honors and get on a law review at law school?

Finally, in order to take the boards, do you have to choose the state you will be practicing in ? Or is it that once you pass the boards for X state, you can practice anywhere in the US?

Dean's list is 3.2 at my school, but don't let it fool ya...with the forced curve it is darn hard to get there...

Also, in Texas you have to fill out a Declaration of Intent to Study Law during your first semester so that the Bar can investigate you...not sure about other states...

Job Search / Re: 1st Year Clerkships?

Pardon my ignorance, but how are there 30+ fed dist court judges in 2 counties, and is a state supreme court clerkship more prestigious than a federal district court clerkship (I assume it is, but I had never thought about this before)?

From what I've gathered by surfing the pecking order is:

SCOTUS, Fed. Appellate, Fed Dist., State Supreme, State Appellate, State District...

But if you plan to stay in-state then State Supreme should serve you well unless you want to focus on Fed. issues. Bonus tend to be higher for Fed and even higher for SCOTUS...

Current Law Students / Re: School Curve

Fairly tough...but at our school only 10% get the A...also a C+ our curve may not be harder per se, but it is harder to get a high GPA with fewer A's to go around...

BTW what is the proper way to write "A's" - an apostrophe seems incorrect, but if you just write "As" you're equally wrong...any ideas...
