You;ll have the puppy for a few months before classes start?  So ideally it would be through puppy kindergarten and basic obeidence, correct?  If you work on establishing some sort of routine, I think it would be doable.  As you are aware of the needs of dogs etc.   However, it really comes down to you and what comprimises you are willing to make.  Is it a larger breed or a smaller breed?  the maturity rate may factor into your decision as well...  I'm a firm believer in pets in law school.  I think they are an ideal destresser.  However an immature puppy may be too much for some especially if one is unwilling to take the time to train and play with the pup.

There are Stetson students who intern in Miami and there are Stetson graduates who work in Miami.  However, I do not think it is the easiest path to take if one's goal is a job in Miami.  Baiscally Miami and UF will trump the number of stetson attorneys in miami.  Stetson has a GREAT reputation in the Tampa Bay, Orlando and suncoast area.  Decent reputation in the remainder of the state.

15% attrition would mean 15 in every 100 students do not return for the 2nd year, that would be alarming.

Exactly.  Basically, I've heard people say SLU's 1L attrition is high due to the part time program, the rigor of the academics and they just weed out the bad seeds first year.  Then in the subsequent 2 or 3 years depending on PT FT the attrition rate is perhaps one per year.  This then equals out to a semi respectable 4.9 % or whatever that they report to the LSAC.  The LSAC attrition rates are the 3 or 4 year averages of a program.  schools like emory, bc, harvard, bu, cornell, columbia etc have less than 1%.  In contrats schools like golden gate, fiu, barry etc have over 12%.  The attrition rate is just one aspect on which to judge a school.  I'd feel better about SLU if I could determine that there is strong academic support for those who may need it.  But many jesuit schools have the sink or swim mentality.

UFs size is a bit daunting and suspect. On a side note, i too hate the gators -- but i'm beginning to console myself with the idea of seeing my beloved cats play once a year if i went there.

tegra- exactly.. but what's the best course of action then. UF no money or Stetson money?    plus UF's construction still is ongoing, correct?(168+158 lsat=163 average)  my gpa is in the 75th percentile for both schools...

personally, considering I would hate myself for actually stepping foot on the UF campus, Stetson easily.

Trying to look at it neturally...  If you plan on staying in central FL, I would take Stetson.  If you have any desire to go outside of central FL, I would go with UF,  However, UF is turning into a degree mill.  I could not imagine having 100+ in my section, I only have 50 or so in mine here and I love it.  Some of my classes are as small as 15 people, so I could not imagine having that many people in one class

i think 2- 2.5% is normal.  it seems that slu is down to only 4.9 so thats an improvement.  but i still think its something like 15% attrition the first year followed by nothing the following years so it evens out.  whereas a school like um-columbia loses 2% each of the 3 years.  So while the attrition percentages may not seem like a huge difference-- one exists.  Or perhaps I am again reading too mu into things.

LSAT horror stories / Re: Were you one of these LSAT test takers?

i figured they all must have thought dressing up would better the performance. or perhaps there was something else on campus that day, i have no idea.  but it was strange.  i'm slightly relieved to know it was an anomaly.

these are hilarious.....we had a few brooks brothers types but overall not too bad

you only had a few???  i waqs shocked when i took the test at USF lst year.  I had recently moved to TB.  When I took the test up north more than 80% of the kids showed up in comfy clothes: pajama bottoms and tees, scrubs, jeans and tees you get the picture.  But at USf, every kid (in my room) save me and one punk rocker were in business casual clothes.  so surreal.

same here!  :D

yup..holland and knight too....it is odd isn't it?  people at my UG tend to view Stetson as like "oh yea i guess i'll go to Stetson"...as if everyone gets in...from what I hear, they are getting a little more selective.  I'm not applying...just hearsay!  :D

I think stetson is a rip off if you have to pay for the education.  However, if it becomes a free or highly discounted education then I become confused.  Its my safety school and I have a strong feeling that I'll receive money.  However,I still don't know if I'd attend.

everything I have heard points to firms LOVING Stetson grads here (tampa area)...if you get $$$ from them and absolutely want to stay in Tampa then I don't see a better choice (save a few obvious schools)...they sure love Stetson here....

maka- no joke.  it amazes me just how much love for stetson there is.  I always find it noteworthy that holland knight tampa branch has no qualms with hiring from stetson.  yeah well those few obvious schools would not even find me worthy of a rejection letter :)
