Socratic Method / how is the socratic method in 2L and 3L classes?
« on: February 20, 2006, 05:44:34 PM »
if anything, our 1L classes have become even more socratic as the year has gone by. the whole "no one briefs after 1st sem." thing is completely erroneous (at least in my section) given the detail / specificity of the responses that our professors still expect from us. we are required to know every fact, every twist, turn, and loop in the opinion, etc.. does this change 2L / 3L? i'v heard that most 3Ls don't read the cases at all - only go to lecture and then read supplements, etc. i can't imagine that most 3Ls walk into socratic classes unprepared, so this leads me to think that most of these upper level classes have dropped the socratic method entirely....

anyway, just curious [and completely sick of the time burner that is the 1L socratic method]

General Board / Cover letters
« on: December 18, 2005, 11:03:32 AM »
in my rush home after the final exam period i accidentally left my CDO packet on the desk - so unfortunately  now I have to write my cover letter "blind". can anyone provide me with the basics of a cover letter? can i write a generic one that can be sent to multiple employers without revision or do I have to tailor this thing to match each position that I apply to?

and yes, of course, i am a confused 1L ...

the glannon's are good - but then again do i REALLY want to read another text book's worth of information?

i need short and sweet

black letter law - the rules that govern civ pro, K, criminal and tort law (1st semester)

yeah i have my lecture notes, my briefs, and my own outlines, but i'd be a fool to not at least attempt to supplement those with some sort of established outside source

it's november. i have massive memos. i have outlines to complete. and the steam roller that has become my daily law school grind (in terms of reading and prep.) continues to roll

with this in mind, any suggestions for commercial outlines, etc. that may be helpful in my study?

I have just found that my friend has prepared A FORTY FIVE PAGE OUTLINE

for one class

covering six weeks of material

does this strike anyone else as absurd?

my outline is 6 pages. it makes sense.

the warpig needs to know.
