U of the Pacific - McGeorge / Re: McGeorge Class of 2010

Congrats on the decision to attend McGeorge. I'm currently a 2L at McG and I really enjoy the school, I've had a great experience in my first two years here. My advice is to take the first year as seriously as possible, because not everyone will. It's a tough school, but hard work definitely pays off.

Arden is a nice area, although Business 80 gets very crowded in the afternoons and mornings (which is how you get there from McG). Curtis Park is pretty nice, and close to campus. The same goes for Land Park. Just be sure not to get anything in Oak Park (I would steer clear from anything south of the 50 and west of the 99). Midtown is a neat area. There are some sketchy folks wandering around at times, but overall it has the most character. The pocket area is nice, but very quiet. Natomas can be nice, but it's a very crowded ride to school in the morning and back home in the afternoon.

Also, the raft trip is a great way to start the semester off, so I'd highly recommend going if you have the extra cash. I went the first two years, and will try to make it out again this year.

I would highly recommend going on this trip, I went last year and will be going again this year. The downside is obviously the cost. But it's a great opportunity to meet 2Ls and students in other sections who you otherwise would probably never meet. I got a lot of really good advice from highly-ranked 2Ls. Also, the rapids were really good, and at the end of the day we had kegs at the campsite. It is the last fun thing you will do for a while, so if you have the cash, you should go.

Oh, and I'd also recommend going to the raft race, it was a lot of fun and another good opportunity to meet people outside your section.

Not a lot of improvement, but I do read faster now.  I'm not sure how useful it will be for school since you really have to scutinize everything, but it's great for light/leisure reading.

I tried it out earlier this year, it seemed to work pretty well.

I now have plenty of cash to burn thanks to access group, so I decided to go. I figure it will be the last fun thing I do for several months.

Streets of London on Thurs sounds cool -- what time?

I'm considering it, although I'm not sure if I want to spend the $185.  It sounds fun though.

Would anyone here want to get together the Wed/Thur/Friday evening on the week before orientation? (Aug 3,4,5)  Most people should probably be moved in by then.  I don't know the area, but I'm up for K Bar, Monkey Bar, Pine Cove -- whichever place has some nice quiet tables to sit around and talk over drinks.

I might be down to meet up at a bar (if enough people went), does anyone know the cool bars in Sac?  I went to the limelight (a.k.a. slimelight) once -- I didn't think it was as bad as everyone said it would be.  Anyhow, put me down as a maybe.
