Law School Applications / Maxwell School
« on: January 29, 2006, 07:28:17 PM »
I am currently considering Syracuse Law, along with Pittsburgh, Penn State, and I am waiting to hear back from a few others.

My question is this, I am very interested in the joint degree with the Maxwell Program, however I would hate to choose Syracuse only to find that I could not get into the joint degree program. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get in? Does anyone have any experience with the program? Does anyone have any pro's or con's to the program?

Thanks so much-

Law School Applications / No love from DC
« on: January 29, 2006, 02:01:21 PM »
Well I was hoping to go to school in DC. However, I wasn't accepted at American. Does anyone know of anyone transfering into American or GW, and what it takes? So far I'm in at U PITT, Syracuse, and New York Law...so I was thinking about going to one of those schools and then transfering, or maybe I'll like it there and just stay.....so many decisions...

Law School Applications / Helping the Wait List or Deffered Process
« on: January 12, 2006, 05:10:01 PM »
I was recently waitlisted at Depaul and Deffered at Chicago-Kent. I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to increase my chances (particularly at Chicago Kent). I know that I can send in my updated transcripts, but is there anything else? Essays, etc. Thanks!

Law School Applications / Financial Aid
« on: December 31, 2005, 09:56:09 AM »
This might be stupid but... are we supposed to fill out a financial aid application for every school we applied to even if we haven't been accepted? I know the sooner the better, so I'm trying to get them in as soon (after Jan 1st) as possible.

Thanks

Where should I go next fall? / Law and the UN
« on: December 16, 2005, 01:47:04 PM »
Hello,

I've applied to most of the schools that I am interested in. However, I am thinking about applying to a couple more (mainly because I'm getting nervous). What schools should I apply to if I want to work for the UN, or/and with refugee's, etc? I have a 159 LSAT, 3.3 GPA, Great, and unique, work experience, and great LOR's. Anyway, I've applied to Brooklyn, because I'd love to be in NYC, but other than that there aren't a lot of NY schools that are good, and that I can get into, are there?

Any suggestions welcome-

Thanks

Law School Applications / Senior Transcripts
« on: December 14, 2005, 02:32:39 PM »
I graduate in two days. All of my applications have been sent out and are currently "complete." What is the process for this semesters grades? Does LSAC automatically send them to all the schools? Do I have to send an updated transcript to LSAC? Can I just not do anything? Do the law schools expect to see something from this semester?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Reviews, Visits, and Rankings / College Towns
« on: December 12, 2005, 10:43:04 PM »
Hey, the atmosphere at my undergrad is horrible, and I'd like to avoid such a scene again. I was just wondering which law shcools (outside of the top 25) are situated in the best college towns and/or have the best social atmosphere.

Thanks

Law School Applications / I need to vent.
« on: December 08, 2005, 02:25:27 PM »
I just found out today that Brooklyn Law School has still not recieved my Deans Certification Form. I had been told that it was sent well before Thanksgiving. Apparently it hasn't. It just bugs me that I managed to send all my applications and all my letters of recomendation to all the schools well before "my" personal deadline, and the ONE things someone else had to do didn't get done >:(

This is so frustrating, do you think it is very late in the process to be sending them the certification? Do you think they've already started looking at apps? Would they look at mine without the form?

Thanks for letting me vent.

Also, has anyone heard from Northeastern yet? This whole process is turning me into someone I don't like!

Law School Applications / Boalt App processing time
« on: November 22, 2005, 07:41:15 PM »
From Boalt:

"We have received your certification letter and application fee.  We are
still waiting for the hard copy of your electronic application from
LSAC.  When we receive this, it will be connected with your
certification letter and your application will be processed.  If we have
all materials, you will receive an email from us letting you know that
your application is under review."

According to LSAC I sent my app 11/07 and there was a paper copy 11/10. So, does it just take a long time to go from the "paper copy" to the hands of the actual law school, or is something wrong here?

Thanks for the help, here I had thought I got everything in early...but hoops, hoops, and more hoops :)
