Where should I go next fall? / Re: How hard is it to get into Hofstra PT?
« on: September 11, 2005, 04:30:42 PM »
Your numbers are below the medians present in their FAQ. People with your stats do not fare too well, at least according to Lawschoolnumbers.com. A 156 on the LSAT seems to be the magic bullet for admission to Hofstra. The LSAC calculator places your chances between 30+% & 40+%. This isn't taking into account the PT aspect, which is likely to increase your chances.

Yeah I know my shot at full time is a 50/50 chance, but according to lsac the PT program is 151-156 and 2.87-3.51, 25%-75% respectively.  I guess i'm pretty safe in PT...any input?

Law School Applications / Re: addendum for add/bipolar and low grades

I have to say, Law woman, you really are a b!tch.  At first I thought it was an act but I'm pretty sure now that you have a deeply rooted hate for people.  Maybe you weren't loved when you were little, I dont know.  But I can assure you that you will be one of those women who frequent the psychiatrist and take meds for depression.  Maybe then you'll realize that life is more than LSAT score, GPAs, jobs and six figure incomes.

Do you have friends?

Personal Statement / Do you title the PS?
« on: September 11, 2005, 12:45:24 AM »
My PS barely fits two pages double spaced 12 font.  That is with no title.  Do I title it "Personal Statement?"  I guess I can put it in the header to make it fit

And I think you put your social security # on all pages correct?

Finally, the stupid question.  Do you send the PS directly to each law school along with the addendum/resume?  Or does LSDAS take care of it?

Thanks!!

edit: another question please.  How do you do the paragraphs?  My current PS is divided with a space between each paragraph and no indents at the beginning of them.  I think it looks better this way since I have a lot of short paragraphs.

thanks again to anyone who can help a noob out!

Seeing how my numbers are very lackluster (154/3.3) I want to try to squeeze into hofstra via part time.

What are my chances given my numbers?

Personal Statement / Re: Dialouge In Personal Statement
« on: September 10, 2005, 04:59:55 PM »
One slightly off topic question.

When you're doing dialogue, as in when thinking to yourself, do you do quotes AND italics? EX would I write:

1) "This was going to be a hard day."
2) "This was going to be a hard day."
3) This was going to be a hard day.

Anyone want to read it?  The other two were ok but this time I went for an experience that reads more like a story

PM me

Your going to make that important decision based on the opinions of total strangers on the internet? ::)

Maybe you should go do something else in life till your less wishy washy.

By the way...Are you Charlie Brown?

Calm down...it was a joke.

And no, but I ate a Charlie Brown's last week

Recommendations / Stupid question...are all LOR's candidly written?
« on: September 08, 2005, 11:58:50 PM »
Sorry for the noob question.  I'm just super paranoid about having some professor mess up or make a bad recommendation or something.  Is there a way that I can see the actual LOR?

Thanks

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Worst case scenario: How bad is Touro?
« on: September 08, 2005, 09:07:29 PM »
how unrealistic is it to expect to transfer to brooklyn law or st. johns after the first year from touro?  Do you have to be in the top 10% since it's a 4th tier?

Thanks

« on: September 06, 2005, 07:52:33 PM »
Ok so I'm at 154/3.3 (hoping LSAC doesnt make it even lower).  Anyway I'm pretty much a 50/50 shot at most NYC/NJ Schools.

One school that is basically a safety for me is Touro.  Is it that bad?  I hear theyre building a new addition which should be open by 06, which is when ill start.  But besides that, is the quality of education good?  And will it be impossible to get a job afterwards?

I assume the competition isn't as fierce since they accept lower numbers, so I'm hoping if I end up going, it would be easier to be at the top of my class.

I know that law school almost means nothing in terms of employment except for the first couple of years.  If I go to Touro and get a decent scholarship, it wouldnt be too bad would it?

Be honest
