I had a  153 and 3.52 and got rejected from full time at St. Johns...just a warning...

yeah that's why i'll be applying PT.

Where did you end up going?

152
Yes, I think it will be easier.  Last year was a very, very hard cycle.

tell me 'bout it.

Historically when the economy improves the number of application goes down.  The recent jump in applications started with the 2001 recession.  It is taking longer this time for the applications go back down.

I would say this is due to a lag.  It's not like as soon as there is a recession people decide to go to law school.  It's a more gradual process.  I think Apps will fall substantially this year

Schools that have excellent prelaw advising programs often have designated officials to handle this paperwork.  These officials do more than just giving their students clearances.  They know law school admission people really well and write detailed letters to support your applications.  I know that at least for students coming from my undergrad schools, law schools really look forward to reading the recommendations that come with the dean's certification.

Applied to Brooklyn, but didn't see anything about a Dean's Cert being required.  Do they ask for this later on?

154
someone here said so. so it has to be true.

Seriously tho, will it be less competitive?

155
Yeh, I think you will make PT at either one... maybe even FT

That's reassuring. :D

Do you think I have shot at brooklyn FT ( don't want to do PT because it's only evenings).  I have a pretty good resume...I guess I'll apply anyway.

Given then numbers, and good work experience, LORs and PS, how do you think I'll fare?

Law School Applications / Re: Anyone else having LSAC Application issues?
« on: October 01, 2005, 12:50:07 AM »
Yeah Pancho, do you know what this means? Or when our stuff is going to be back up? Actually, this question is to anyone who may know. This is prime application time...LSAC needs to get it together.

bleh, I'm sure everything will be fine tomorrow.

It was working fine a few hours ago...mustve been after midnight

that would suck if all the apps were lost though.

After you submit your apps, the schools will request your lsdas report.  Some schools will not accept the lsdas report until everything is submit'd, ie., lsat score, transcripts, LORS and LSAC will wait until those things are received before sending the report to the schools.  Other schools will request your lsdas report and take it when it is not complete and will just get updated reports when additional info is received by lsac (i.e, your LORs).

oh ok

I guess i'm super paranoid so I'm gonna wait another 2 weeks until I'm sure I get all the LOR's in.

Thanks for the info

the only concern is if you want to send in more LORs than "required"... LSAC will send your report as soon as as many reports that are required by the school are processed... so if you want to send 3 LORs to a school that only requires 2 but accepts 4, you're going to want to wait until all 3 are in before you transmit the app
That's what I figured.  Thanks again!
