Financial Aid / Question about Financial Aid max (18.5K)« on: January 17, 2006, 02:18:42 PM »
This maximum...is it ususally granted? I am independent and am showing very little income (part time summer work)...will I be granted the max amount based on that?
And I guess whatever is left needs to be privately funded (Sallie mae, etc)? Thanks...I'm such a newb 22

People always say I have a 3.5 GPA but a 3.3 in my major. My transcript doesn't even split it up that way. Do schools even look at this? I doubt they have the time to check to see which classes you took are part of your major and then calculate that grade.

one of the schools i'm applying to has a summer program where you can go free of charge to attend a 1L course for credit. If you pass with a min. of a B- you get accepted.
Anyone have any insight on this "backdoor" method of entering law school? 24

I sent out a diversity statement to one of the schools I applied to that is my top choice. Anyway, I started it off by explaining that my parents were immigrants and english was my second langugage.
Then halfway through I went on about my unique work experience...It flowed well but I'm wondering if the Adcomms will look at this negatively. In other words, does diversity simply mean race? Or can it be work experience as well? 25

Anyone get a big thick white envelope from brooklyn only to find brochures? This happened like 3 times. Obviously I shouldnt be expecting any decisions now but it's such a tease when you see a thick white envelope fillled with material.
I think of all the school I applied to, brookyln has proven o be worth the application fee..they bombard you with a lot of useful and high quality material 26

So my last three years in UG have been steadily improving. Senior year looks like it's going to be an average year (not as good as last year but not horrible either). I applied in Mid October. Will Schools ever ask for my fall semester grades, or are they usually volunteerly sent by the applicant?

I applied in Mid October and of course no one has made any decisions yet.
I was wondering if writing a strong letter of interest would help my odds at the schools I want to attend most. What is the most effective and proper way to show my interest? I already attended an open house, and I heard sometimes that helps. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 28

Law School Applications / Grrr...brooklyn wants deans cert but they never ask for it on the app« on: November 02, 2005, 04:06:27 PM »
2 weeks after i submitted the app they ask for the Deans Cert, which is listed on their website but not in the app...such a pain. My school says it'll take a week to get it out, so thats like mid november before i'm complete
Not really complaining, I probably won't get in anyway, and dont really intend on going, so I didn't really research their requirements thoroughly... but I can see how it would be a pain for someone who needed to be complete by a certain date So yeah, lesson here is to look thru the site of each school and see what they require because not everything is in the App 30

I'm a finance major and by the end of Junior year I realized how much it bores me to no end. If I knew I wanted to do law I would've done something less specific like Business Admin or something.
But I managed to take 4 law classes so far and im going to take 2 more in this next semester...I always look forward to those classes and hate going to my finance classes. I just keep telling myself that this time next year God willing I'll be in Law School |
